Brighton vs Crystal Palace Stats-Based Bet Builder Tips: Bitter rivals cancel each other out

Saturday 7th February 2026, 13:00pm

Football’s most baffling bitter rivalry is back this Sunday, February 8, as Brighton & Hove Albion take on Crystal Palace (14:00 GMT, Sky Sports Premier League and Main Event). Forty miles and a whole lot of history separate the two sides. If you don’t understand, perhaps you’re not from the South Coast or a supporter of a London team traditionally marginalised by the capital’s big boys.

Read on for my Brighton vs Crystal Palace Stats-Based Bet Builder Tips. It’s got numbers and everything.

Match Result - Draw

Brighton haven’t won a league game since December 7; a 2-1 win over Fulham. Palace are without a Premier League victory since January 3. Slightly more palatable, but that 2-0 formality over Burnley was still over a month ago.

The Eagles were never the same after guitarist Don Felder was fired. By the same token, soccer’s own Eagles have declined since manager Oliver Glasner announced his intention to leave at the end of the campaign. The apple of the eye of many high-profile clubs, Palace are preparing for life without the man who won them their first major trophy with last season’s FA Cup.

Brighton should have built on a fine eighth-placed finish last term, but popular coach Fabian Hurzeler is struggling to get the same tune out of his charges in 2025/26. In fact, the soporific song suggested by a nine-game winless league run is so bad it’s a surprise we haven’t sent it to Eurovision.

Two teams who have proven allergic to winning. I smell a draw.

Premier League Odds

Brighton vs Crystal Palace Stats

  • Brighton are without a Premier League win since January 3, a 2-0 win over Burnley. Palace's most recent league victory came in a 2-1 triumph against Fulham all the way back on December 7
  • Danny Welbeck is joint-seventh on the Premier League top scorers list for the season with eight goals
  • Brighton and Crystal Palace have both averaged over nine combined for/against corners per game in the league this campaign

Danny Welbeck to score anytime

Daniel Nii Tackie Mensah Welbeck is good. He’s still good. That is the narrative surrounding the evergreen 35-year-old. But to categorise the forward as one of those who never lost ‘it’ is to reduce his rejuvenative arc.

Welbeck’s career was at risk of becoming a The Athletic “we caught up with this bloke you used to play as on FIFA11” statistic when he left Watford just 20 games and 3 goals into a 2019/20 spell. He had scraped the stratosphere with Manchester United and Arsenal, now he had flopped at Vicarage Road. No way back, surely?

The much-ballyhooed England recall has not arrived. Welbeck still hasn’t worn the Three Lions since his Gunners days. But people are right to want Danny on the plane. Closing in on 200 games as Brighton’s talisman, he remains the same restless forward he was in his pomp but with a reassuring sheen of canny experience. You want stats? Here’s the only one that matters; Welbeck has scored eight goals in 23 league games this season. More than any other Brighton player. More than all but Messrs Haaland, Thiago, Semenyo, Calvert-Lewin and Pedro.

Palace can’t keep him out. They won’t keep him out. Are you watching, Tommy Tuchel?

Over 8.5 corners

Brighton games have featured an average of 9.63 corners this season, split 5.00 for and 4.63 against.

Palace games have seen an average of 9.08, less but only negligibly so. Glasner’s men have averaged 4.04 for and 5.04 against. These numbers fit snugly alongside Brighton’s and they point towards more than 8.5 corners being taken this afternoon.
