Portsmouth will be looking for an immediate response to their 5-1 hammering at West Bromwich Albion at the weekend when they host Millwall in the Championship on Tuesday (19:45, Sky Sports+). Pompey's home form has been strong of late, having won six of their last seven league encounters at Fratton Park.

The Lions travel to the South Coast off the back of a rare away victory, which came against struggling Luton Town on Saturday. It was Alex Neil's first win since taking charge of the club, and he will look to build on that in midweek. Read on for my Portsmouth vs Millwall prediction, supported by the latest match odds and team news.

Portsmouth vs Millwall Betting Tips

  • Price Boost - Portsmouth win or draw, Callum Lang to score or assist, both teams 3+ corners & both teams 10+ booking points @ 4/1 5/1
  • Colby Bishop anytime goalscorer @ 12/5

Portsmouth vs Millwall Odds

Portsmouth have won four home games on the spin in the second tier, so there is value to be had in their 13/8 price, which has an implied probability of 38.1%, to come out on top on Tuesday.

Two of Millwall's last three Championship away days have ended in a stalemate and the draw is on offer at 21/10 (32.3%). The Lions are 15/8 to come away with the three points, but they have managed this just twice on the road in 2024/25.

Both teams to score has been a successful bet in three of Pompey's previous four league game at home, and is available at an enticing 1/1 for this clash.

Team News

Portsmouth boss John Mousinho is limited with his defensive options at the moment with trio Ibane Bowat, Regan Poole and Jacob Farrell all sidelined.

The club announced the acquisition of centre-back Hayden Matthews from Sydney FC on Monday, so he could be thrown in immediately for his debut against Millwall, while Conor Shaughnessy is back in training and in line to return to action.

Mark O'Mahony, Kusingi Yengi and Paddy Lane are also confined to the medical bay, and the latter is set to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury he sustained earlier in the month.

Callum Lang, Jordan Williams, Freddie Potts, Josh Murphy and Rob Atkinson are expected to return to the starting XI against Millwall. Murphy should return to the right flank as Matt Ritchie will hold his place on the left. Potts is likely to come into the engine room for loanee Isaac Hayden to partner Andre Dozzell.

Recent arrival Thomas Waddingham could be given more minutes from the bench after netting a consolation on his debut at West Brom. He will have to work hard to displace Colby Bishop as Mousinho's centre-forward, though.

Millwall will head to Fratton Park without full-back Danny McNamara (knee) and Ryan Leonard (calf) due to issues the pair recently picked up. The duo are the Lions' two main options at right-back, so January signing Tristan Crama will continue to fill in there despite his primary role being at centre-back.

Calum Scanlon and Lukas Jensen are also set to miss the trip due to injury, having both been forced off against Luton on Saturday. Boss Neil said after the game that the knocks "do not look good" for the duo.

Liam Roberts will replace Jensen in between the sticks, while recent addition Aaron Connolly could come in for Scanlon, having replaced him at Kenilworth Road.

Price Boost - Portsmouth win or draw, Callum Lang to score or assist, both teams 3+ corners & both teams 10+ booking points @ 4/1 5/1

This is a fairly big price boost so bear with me, although I think the 5/1 odds offer great value. The insurance of a draw here is what first drew me to it. As much as Pompey have been exceptional at home in recent months, Millwall are a tough team to beat and will be spurred on by their away triumph at Luton last time out.

I don't see the Lions getting the same joy this time around, though, as Portsmouth's home record is too strong right now, and they will look to bounce back straight away after their hammering in the West Midlands.

Lang is expected to come back into the lineup on Tuesday, and I think he can play a key role in this contest. The former Wigan Athletic attacker has netted 10 goals in the Championship so far, six of which have come on home turf.

He heads into this game in decent form, with a goal and an assist from his previous two appearances at Fratton Park. After a cameo at West Brom, he should come into Tuesday with some relatively fresh legs to help his side get back on track.

Looking at the two sides' corner averages this term, I think three apiece should be relatively straightforward. Portsmouth's average for at home is 8.15 per game, while Millwall's on the road is 5.07.

The chances for each team to receive a booking here look favourable too. Pompey are 21st in the Fair Play table this season, with 67 yellow cards collected, meaning they are averaging 2.4 per match. Millwall are 12th in these particular standings with 56, and their average is two per match.

Colby Bishop anytime goalscorer @ 12/5

Portsmouth striker Bishop's return to action following heart surgery has been one of the feel-good stories of the season, and he has had an impact since coming back into the side.

The front man has scored four times in the Championship thus far, and they have all come at Fratton Park. He was on the scoresheet in the latest fixture here against Stoke City, so he will come into this game with plenty of confidence. I think he can hurt a Millwall side that tend to concede goals on their travels.
