We’ve got a clash between two sides that failed to make the World Cup this summer as Poland face Nigeria in Warsaw on Wednesday (8.45pm local time, 7:45pm BST, Amazon Prime).

Poland lost to Sweden in dramatic fashion in the play-off final, while Nigeria were a penalty shootout away from the finals, losing to DR Congo. Below you can find my Poland vs Nigeria predictions, featuring team news and more.

Team News

Poland lost 2-0 to Ukraine last time out and although there were no injuries, Jan Urban may make a few changes for this friendly. Karol Swiderski and Jakub Kaminski are hoping to get some minutes, while Porto’s Jan Bednarek should come into the XI.

Robert Lewandowski was withdrawn at half-time and should start again in this one as he looks to add to his 89 international goals.

Ademola Lookman has been withdrawn from the squad with a fitness issue while Victor Osimhen is unavailable. Nigeria beat Jamaica at the Valley with Millwall’s Femi Azeez featuring on the right wing.

There should be a lot of rotation again in this fixture, with Wilfred Ndidi and Moses Simon offering more experience, while Alex Iwobi is set to win his 100th cap for his country.

Poland vs Nigeria Stats

  • Poland have lost their last two
  • Nigeria have won their last three games
  • Nigeria have only conceded one in their last five

Double Chance - Draw or Nigeria @ 8/11

I just don’t like backing Poland, and I don’t see any reason why they are favourites to win this game other than the fact that they are playing at home. Nigeria have won their last three games, including beating Iran 2-1, and are ranked 26th in the world compared to Poland’s 35th.

Of course they are missing a couple of key players, but this is a friendly match between two teams that are still reeling from missing out on the World Cup - both in agonising fashion. I just feel Nigeria’s quality will shine through. The friendly aspect of this tie makes me lean towards Double Chance, with the 8/11 price offering strong value.

Nigeria - First team to score @ 11/8

Nigeria have not only scored first in each of their last three games, but they’ve only conceded one goal in their last five outings in all competitions. They lost to Morocco on penalties in the semi-final of AFCON after a 0-0 draw, but then beat Egypt on penalties in the third-place play-off after another stalemate.

A decent defence and a dangerous attack - I like the look of the away side to nick this one and they should find the net first on balance.
