Team News

Oxford manager Des Buckingham will be forced into making at least one change to his starting XI for this one, with left-back Joe Bennett having been ruled out until the New Year through injury, Greg Leigh should take his place in the line-up.

Winger Matt Phillips was also forced off against Preston before the international break and is considered an injury doubt.

As for Stoke, head coach Steven Schumacher could stick with the same XI that started the win at his former club Plymouth, although young forward Lewis Koumas' fitness will be assessed after he featured twice for Wales over the international break.

Michael Rose, Enda Stevens and Jordan Thompson could all return to the matchday squad after recent fitness concerns.

Oxford have won all three of their home games to date in 2024/25 and they are 11/5 to take the spoils in this one, while Stoke are 13/10 to claim a third road victory on the bounce. The draw is available at 23/10.

Both teams to score is priced at 8/11, while Stoke forward Niall Ennis is the favourite to open the scoring at 2/1.

Over 3.5 goals @ 9/4

If Oxford are to enjoy a successful first season back in the second tier after 25 years away then it looks like their home form will be key, as they have started the campaign with three successive wins at the Kassam, two of which have come in the league.

The U's have scored seven goals across those three fixtures, while they have only failed to notch in one of their six matches in all competitions.

Stoke's goalscoring prowess has been less obvious - they have netted just three goals in four Championship games to date - but they put five past Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup and, like Oxford, have scored in all but one of their games this season.

The Potters have won three of their four away matches this term and given that impressive road record, coupled with Oxford's strong home form, it is difficult to pick a winner from Saturday’s contest.

However, with both sides enjoying a knack for scoring, this could be a game that features plenty of goals and there is value to be had in backing at least four to be notched in the match.

Oxford vs Stoke - Total Goals Over 3.5

Odds correct at time of publishing.

Bet Builder - Mark Harris to score anytime and over 10.5 corners in the match @ 6/1

Oxford's star performer so far this season is forward Mark Harris, who heads into this round of fixtures as the joint-leading scorer in the Championship, netting four goals in as many matches.

The Wales international has been on target in all of Oxford's league games to date in 2024/25 and is worth including as an anytime scorer.

The corner market could also be worth considering, specifically over 10.5 in the match, as there has been an average of 10.75 corners in Oxford’s league games so far this season, while the same is true when it comes to fixtures involving Stoke.
