Six games this week for our Saturday Over 2.5 Goals column and we are certainly looking deep in the football pyramid.
It should be noted that one of the games is a 12:30 kick-off, so make sure you get on it early doors!
This sixfold is a 14/1 shot at the time of writing...
Leg 1 - Harrogate Town vs Swindon Town @ 8/13
We start the Over 2.5 column with one of those teams who love to score but can’t can’t keep clean sheets either. I’m talking about Swindon Town - they’ve been a regular fixture in this piece and I’m not feeling any reason to discount them this weekend.
Last week they lost 2-4 at home to top-of-the-table Stockport County. The week before they went down 3-1 at Colchester and who can forget that 11-goal thriller at the County Ground, when they were dumped out of the FA Cup by non-league Aldershot Town?
Only Stockport have scored more than them in the league and only two teams have conceded more. They are one of those teams you want to watch if you are a neutral. Plenty of reason to think that carries on this Saturday.
Leg 2 - Notts County vs Bradford City @ 8/13
We are now very much in the middle of November and here’s a simple statistic to explain why I’ve put this leg in.
Outside of an EFL Cup First Round defeat to Lincoln, a game which the away side won 0-2 and the same scoreline in a league match against Wrexham, games at Meadow Lane have gone Over 2.5 nine times of the 11 games played. That is a very high occurrence.
Bradford aren’t terrific for this bet but they have gone five straight with it being a winner. I like the home side to score two or three and make this leg a successful one.
It should be noted that this is a 12:30 kick-off.
Leg 3 - Stockport County vs Colchester United @ 4/7
The home side are sitting pretty at the top-of-the-table and have scored at least twice in every game bar one, since the start of September. They are the top-scorers in League 2 and there is little reason to think they don’t completely roll the Essex side on Saturday afternoon.
Colchester are ten of their past 12 for Over 2.5 being the right side of the final score. This is probably the strongest leg of the six in my opinion, so no doubt this will be the one that lets us down!
Leg 4 - Southend United vs Chesterfield @ 8/11
Usually I ignore Southend games in the Over 2.5 column but they are very much down to the bare bones this weekend and with the best side in the division rocking up to Roots Hall on Saturday, this has all the makings of a high-scorer.
With the home side in the middle of a takeover, coupled with the fact they only have 13 fit players available for the game, it is going to be a tall order to get anything from this one.
The visitors have scored 47 in 18 games, five more than anyone else in the league. Paul Cook’s lot could easily run riot and score three or four.
Leg 5 - Hornchurch FC vs Potters Bar Town @ 4/9
We are reaching deep into the football pyramid this weekend with two games from tier seven.
Top of the Isthmian Premier Division are Hornchurch FC. The Essex-based club have amassed 44 goals in just 14 games. In their past five matches, they’ve scored four or more in 80% of them.
Only three times all-season, in all competitions, have they failed to hit the Over 2.5 mark.
They face a Potters Bar Town side who are lurking just above the drop-zone. This has big home win written all over it.
Leg 6 - Poole Town vs Walton & Hersham @ 1/2
In the Southern Premier Division, we take in the delights of the Dorset seaside, where the top-scorers in the league are hosting the second top-scorers. I think you can see where I'm going with this.
Poole Town are 90% in their past ten for Over 2.5 with Walton & Hersham at 80% over the same span. All the stats say we should expect a good game with plenty of goalmouth action down at the Tatham Ground.
The Over 2.5 Goals column is part of a plethora of Football Accumulator Tips the team put up each week...
