Fa cup

One of English football's biggest grudge matches, MK Dons vs AFC Wimbledon, takes place at the former's Stadium MK on Sunday (12:30).

Below you can find my MK Dons vs AFC Wimbledon prediction, complete with team news and match odds, ahead of this FA Cup first-round fixture in Milton Keynes.

MK Dons vs AFC Wimbledon Betting Tips

  • Both Teams to Score - Yes @ 4/6
  • Corners Over/Under - Under 9.5 @ 5/6

Team News

MK midfielder Liam Kelly is a major doubt for Sunday's game with a hamstring complaint, while Nico Lawrence and Tom Carrol are both longer-term absentees.

Striker Callum Hendry, who hasn't featured since MK's 3-0 defeat to Wimbledon in mid-September, is back in contention to feature for the hosts after returning to training earlier this week.

Veteran defender Dean Lewington, who made his FA Cup debut with the 'old' Wimbledon in 2003, will hope to feature in some capacity this weekend.

Football Odds

Wimbledon defenders James Furlong and Isaac Ogundere picked up injuries in the closing stages of Tuesday's 3-0 Bristol Street Motor Trophy loss to Brighton U21s and could both miss out on the trip to Stadium MK.

Joe Pigott returned from illness to play the duration of that defeat and is now in contention to feature for Johnnie Jackson's side this weekend.

MK Dons are 7/5, or a 41.7% chance, to wreak their revenge on Wimbledon by winning on Sunday, while the visitors are 9/5 (35.7%) to beat their opponents for a second time in less than two months.

FA Cup replays have been scrapped from the first round onwards, so by backing a draw at 23/10, you would also be tipping the game to head to extra-time, and potentially a penalty shootout.

MK are 8/11 just to win the tie, while Wimbledon are 1/1.

Both teams to score in regulation time is 4/6, and over 2.5 total goals in the 90 is 5/6.

Both Teams to Score - Yes @ 4/6

MK failed to get on the scoresheet in defeat at the Cherry Red Records Stadium in September, which proved to be Mike Williamson's final league game in charge before he left for Carlisle United.

Under interim head coach Lewington and permanent boss Scott Lindsey, MK have only failed to score on one occasion in their last nine matches - a 1-0 home defeat to Port Vale on October 12.

Wimbledon, meanwhile, have failed to keep a clean sheet on their travels in their last five games in all competitions, last recording a shutout in a goalless draw at Bradford City on September 21.

The Dons' last trip to Stadium MK, in January earlier this year, saw them lose 3-1, and their defence has been breached at least once in their last four visits there, though they have scored in three of those matches themselves.

We should have a proper cup tie on our hands on Sunday, and both teams should feel free to go at it, so BTTS - Yes looks like a solid enough option at 4/6.

Corners Over/Under - Under 9.5 @ 5/6

Corners haven't been a frequent occurrence for either MK or Wimbledon in League 2 this season, with the former's matches averaging just 7.6 per game (for/against) and the latter's 8.9; in fact, MK average the fewest corners per game (for/against) in the division, while Wimbledon average the third-fewest.

Wimbledon actually average the joint-fourth most corners earned per game (5.7) in the fourth tier, but they also concede the fewest (3.2).

There were just six corners in Wimbledon's 3-0 win over MK in September, while the Don's last visit to Milton Keynes, in January, also produced six. Four of the last five head-to-heads have all seen the under 9.5 corners bet land, and considering how lowly both are in the League 2 corners table, I'm happy to take nine or fewer on Sunday at just under EVS.

MK Dons vs AFC Wimbledon - Corner Over/Under Under 9.5
