Middlesbrough will be gunning for a fourth-straight victory in the EFL Championship on Wednesday (19:45, Sky Sports+) when they welcome Blackburn Rovers to the Riverside Stadium. Michael Carrick's side picked up another high-scoring victory at the weekend as they were 6-2 victors at Oxford United.

Rovers' clash with Portsmouth was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, so John Eustace's side will be feeling a little fresher on Teesside. Read on for my Middlesbrough vs Blackburn Rovers prediction, alongside the latest match odds and team news.

Middlesbrough vs Blackburn Rovers Betting Tips

  • Middlesbrough and both teams to score @ 21/10
  • Emmanuel Latte Lath anytime goalscorer @ 5/4

Middlesbrough vs Blackburn Rovers Odds

Middlesbrough are 4/6 to win this fixture, which gives them a theoretical chance of 60%. Blackburn are valued at 4/1 to take the three points, giving them an implied probability of 20%. The draw is on offer at 3/1 (25%).

Both teams to score is available at 4/6 and over 2.5 goals can be backed at the same odds.

Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath has seven goals for the campaign in the second tier, and he is 4/1 to open the scoring at the Riverside. His teammates Tommy Conway and Finn Azaz have six and five respectively, and they are 7/5 and 23/10 to score anytime on Wednesday.

Blackburn's Andi Weimann and Yuki Ohashi both have four goals each, and they are 18/5 and 11/4 respectively to find the back of the net in this contest.

Team News

Boro remain without the services of defenders Darragh Lenihan and Alex Bangura due to injury, meaning Carrick's options at the back are limited heading into the congested festive schedule.

Midfielder Hayden Hackney is not expected back from his own muscle issue until some point next month, so Jonny Howson and Dan Barlaser are expected to continue in the engine room on Wednesday.

Winger Ben Doak is going to continue out on the flank, having been praised for his performances on Teesside this season. He is dazzling in attack for Boro, as are Azaz, Latte Lath and Delano Burgzorg, who have been on fire collectively in the last few matches.

The hosts have scored 15 goals in their last three matches, so they are arguably the best attacking team in the division right now.

For Blackburn, Hayden Carter remains out of action due to injury, so Dom Hyam and Danny Batth will continue their partnership in the heart of the defence. Arnor Sigurdsson will be hoping to have the impact that he had for Rovers last year, but a thigh strain has limited him to just five league appearances so far in this campaign.

After scoring a brace at Cardiff City last time out, Weimann is set to keep his place on the right side of the attack, while he should once again link up with Todd Cantwell and Ryan Hedges.

Eustace will likely keep Ohasi in as the front man, while Makhtar Gueye will be pushing for an opportunity on Wednesday. Sondre Tronstad and Lewis Travis should continue in the engine room, while Callum Brittain and Harry Pickering should offer support from the full-back positions.

Middlesbrough and both teams to score @ 21/10

Middlesbrough look like they have finally found their rhythm after posting three high-scoring victories on the bounce. Carrick's side are looking sharp and it feels like we could see them enter the automatic promotion race. They're scoring goals for fun at the moment, while their north-east neighbours are in habit of drawing at the moment.

There has been little to criticise of their recent performance and so the mood in camp will be positive ahead of another clash at the Riverside. They will fancy themselves to pick up another three points against a Rovers side that have managed just one win on the road so far this season.

The visitors should be fresher than the hosts because they didn't have a game at the weekend, but I still think Boro's momentum will be too much for Eustace's men. Things have clicked in the final third and everyone is doing their part to help fire the club up the table.

Middlesbrough are full of confidence at the moment and so I think this could be the time in which they turn the Riverside into a fortress. They lost two of their last three encounters here, but I can't see them losing any time soon with the way they are playing at the moment.

I am expecting them to claim their fourth victory in a row, but I've boosted the odds by adding both teams to score. BTTS has only landed in three of Boro's home games to date but it is because of Blackburn I like the look of this selection.

Both teams have scored in four of their seven matches on the road this term, including two of their last three encounters. They should have more energy than the hosts after the Pompey game was called off, so I think they should at least get on the scoresheet here.

Emmanuel Latte Lath anytime goalscorer @ 5/4

After a slow start to the campaign, Latte Lath has finally arrived, demonstrating the form that made him such an asset to Boro last season. In the three-game winning streak, the Ivorian has netted five goals, including a hat-trick last time out against Oxford.

Many were surprised that he didn't hit the ground running this term after his 16 goals last year, with many tipping him to be the Golden Boot winner this time around. He looks to have found his shooting boots now though, and I can't see his momentum halting on Wednesday.

Rovers are not happy travellers and Latte Lath has scored a third of his side's goals in the last three games, and I think there are more to come as we head into the busy festive period.

He's playing with a confidence that he's not really had this season so far, and now that he has it, you have to worry for all the opposition defence about to face him. I'm backing him to score for a fourth consecutive match on Wednesday night.
