Man Utd return to Premier League action with a home match against Everton in the early kick-off on Saturday afternoon (12.30, TNT Sports). Having been well-beaten by Manchester City in the derby last time out, United will hope to bounce back with three points here as they look to reduce the six-point gap between themselves in sixth and Tottenham Hotspur in fifth.

That fifth-spot could prove to be a crucial Champions League place so Manchester United’s season is not over yet, while they also have an FA Cup quarter-final to come. Meanwhile, Everton are desperate to get some points on the board to relieve their relegation woes, having been handed a four-point boost off the pitch in recent weeks.

Here’s how we see this one panning out, our Man United vs Everton prediction featuring team news and match odds.

Man United vs Everton Tips

  • Man Utd to win @ 5/6
  • Over 3.5 goals @ 13/8

Team News

Harry Maguire has missed the last two United games but could return for this one to boost Erik ten Hag’s defensive options. Rasmus Hojlund’s presence has certainly been missed up front and he is edging closer to a return, while Marcus Rashford should be fit despite being taken off against City. Tyrell Malacia, Mason Mount, Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw all remain on the treatment table.

Everton will be without Dele Alli and Arnaut Danjuma, however there are hopes that Idrissa Gana Gueye could make his return after missing the defeat to West Ham. After missing a penalty and scoring last time out, Sean Dyche must decide whether to continue with Beto up front, or play Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Match Odds

Man United are priced at 5/6 to win this game, with Everton the outsiders at 3/1. A draw can be backed at 11/4, over 2.5 goals is 8/13 and BTTS is 8/13.

Man Utd to win @ 5/6

Okay, so Manchester United have been great in their last two games, losing to both Fulham and Man City - but they are clearly better than Everton right now. The Fulham defeat was slightly concerning, but their performance at the Etihad was decent, even if they failed to trouble the hosts after Marcus Rashford’s opener.

They aren’t a team capable of beating the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City anymore, but at least Ten Hag tried to implement something different on Sunday. Now back on home soil, I’m expecting the likes of Bruno Fernandes to have a field day against a woeful Everton outfit. There’s just too much quality in red for them to drop points here, and I think the price on them to win is fair. One to add to your acca, or back as a single in my eyes.

Over 3.5 goals @ 13/8

A goal fest at Old Trafford? Oh, go on then. Both of these teams lost 3-1 last time out, and both have the ability to concede plenty of goals. United’s last nine league matches have ended over 2.5 goals, while both teams have scored in eight of those outings. We are happy to push things further and go over 3.5 goals here, given BTTS has also come in over Everton’s last three matches.

United are going to want to come out on the front foot after two defeats on the bounce, and if they get an early goal it is likely to be a long afternoon for the visitors. However, don’t rule the Toffees out from scoring themselves - only Man City have kept them out in their last five matches. Bring on the goals.
