Man City vs Newcastle Prediction: Pep’s men can breeze into semis

We're at the quarter-final stages of the FA Cup and on Saturday evening (17:30) we have a cracker on the Beeb, where Manchester City take on Newcastle United.

Manchester City will have much bigger fish to fry soon in the form or Real Madrid, after they were drawn against the 14-time winners in the Champions League draw on Friday. First though, they have the little matter of a FA Cup quarter-final to take care of and Newcastle United have made the trip to the north west.

Eddie Howe's charges had a disappointing loss to Chelsea on Monday night and they will be hoping to pull off a massive shock here against the 11/8 favourites to win the FA Cup.

Pep Guardiola's side are looking to go back-to-back in this tournament having beaten their rivals Manchester United in last season's final and you wouldn't bet against them going close to that magnificent treble again.

Team news

Kevin de Bruyne is a big doubt for Guardiola, after being withdrawn from the Belgian national squad due to a groin injury. If unavailable he would join Jack Grealish and Ederson on the treatment table.

Newcastle just can't catch a break and continue to have big injury issues. Anthony Gordon was forced off with a knee injury at Stamford Bridge and Howe could be without as many as eight players for this massive game.

City are huge 1/4 favs for this one, with the Magpies as big as 11/1 at the time of writing. The draw is available at 5/1.

Goals look a sure thing, with over 2.5 at just 2/5. Star striker Erling Haaland is just 1/2 to score in the 90 minutes.

Man City to win and both teams to score @ 6/4

City should win this one comfortably but I can see Newcastle troubling the scorers at the other end.

The Cityzens haven't kept a clean sheet for four games now and United possess plenty of firepower in the likes of Alexander Isak.

City have a fondness for this scoreline of late having won 3-1 in five of their last 11 matches. At 9/1 it's worth a bit of pocket change.
