Team News

Tyler Morton, who joined in the summer from Liverpool, is suspended for Friday's fixture following his red card in the loss to Rennes.

The Englishman will join the injured quartet Abner Vinicius (groin), Ernest Nuamah, Orel Mangala (both knee) and Remy Descamps (wrist) in having a watching brief against Angers.

Descamps will be replaced in goal by Dominik Greif, who will make his debut following his recent move from Real Mallorca.

Football Odds

The visitors are once again without Jim Allevinah (calf), but otherwise, are at full strength, with Himad Abdelli making a goalscoring return from a back injury in last weekend's 1-1 stalemate with Metz.

Abdelli, who came off the bench in the 72nd minute and converted from the penalty spot in the 90th, will hope to earn a promotion to the starting XI on Friday.

Lyon vs Angers SCO Predicted Lineups

  • Lyon - Greif; Maitland-Niles, Mata, Niakhate, Tagliafico; Tessmann; Karabec, Tolisso, Sulc, Fofana; Satriano
  • Angers SCO - Koffi; Arcus, Camara, Lefort, Ekomie; Belkhdim, Abdelli; Raolisoa, Mouton, Cherif; Peter

Today's Football Fixtures

Lyon vs Angers Odds

Lyon have won their last three home games and are 2/5 to make it four on the bounce against Angers, implying a 71.4% probability of success. The visitors, who have lost on their last six visits to this stadium, are 15/2, or an 11.8% chance, to claim all three points on Friday.

The draw is priced at 18/5 and both teams to score at 1/1, while a Lyon win, together with a Malick Fofana goal and Corentin Tolisso assist, has been boosted from 5/1 to 6/1.

Lyon vs Angers SCO Stats

  • Corentin Tolisso (OL) has scored twice in four games this season
  • Tolisso struck seven Ligue 1 goals in 2024/25
  • Lyon won last season's corresponding fixture 2-0 in May
  • Only relegated Montpellier (23) scored fewer Ligue 1 goals than Angers (32) in 24/25
  • Angers have blanked in three of the last four H2Hs

Anytime Goalscorer - Corentin Tolisso (OLY) @ 11/5

Lyon captain Tolisso has made a great start to the season, netting twice in his first four games.

The 31-year-old, who scored seven Ligue 1 goals in 2024/25, got off the mark this term in Lyon's 3-0 victory over Metz at Groupama Stadium on August 23.

Tolisso doubled his tally last weekend, opening the scoring against Rennes at Roazhon Park.

With last season's leading marksmen, Alexandre Lacazette and Georges Mikautadze, who found the net 15 and 11 times in Ligue 1, respectively, in 2024/25, leaving Lyon during the summer, there is added expectation on the likes of Tolisso to chip in even more regularly, particularly during the early stages of the campaign.

Lyon haven't started a recognised centre-forward in their last two games, with Pavel Sulc and Tolisso responsible for their solitary goals against Marseille and Rennes.

I like the look of Sulc (9/5), who struck 20 times for Viktoria Plzen across all competitions last season, in the anytime market, but he hasn't started Lyon's last two matches, whereas Tolisso has begun all four, lasting the duration of three.

Match Result & Total Goals Over/Under 2.5 - Lyon & Under 2.5 @ 12/5

In Ligue 1, only Nantes (four) have seen fewer goals scored in their games this season than Angers (six), who have scored and conceded in equal amounts. Their first two finished 1-0, both against Parisian sides (1-0 win v Paris FC, 1-0 defeat v Paris Saint-Germain), before they drew 1-1 in back-to-back outings against Rennes and Metz.

Scoring goals was a problem for Le SCO last season, too, as they struck just 32 league goals; only Ligue 1 stragglers Montpellier (23) found the net fewer times.

Angers failed to score in both meetings with Lyon in 2024/25, suffering a 3-0 home defeat last December before losing 2-0 at Groupama Stadium in May.

Lyon, meanwhile, opened up the campaign with three consecutive clean sheets, edging out Lens (1-0) and Marseille (3-0) either side of a 3-0 victory over Metz.

Les Gones conceded three goals at Rennes last weekend, but the first of those was struck in the 79th minute, and the last two in added time - and all were against 10 men following Morton's 75th-minute dismissal.

Paulo Fonseca's defence is yet to be breached with a full complement of players on the pitch, and the Portuguese boss will have faith that his players can keep out an Angers side that has scored just two open-play goals this season.

I'm backing a home win on Friday, but with Angers not conceding more than two goals in any of their last 11 games, it may be wise to opt for a low-scoring victory.
