Liverpool vs Leicester City Prediction: Reds can rout Leicester at Anfield

Liverpool manager Arne Slot will have enjoyed looking down on the rest of the Premier League over Christmas and he will be even more delighted with his team's Boxing Day fixture. 

The Reds are set to host struggling Leicester City at Anfield on Thursday night looking to extend their unbeaten run to 22 matches (20:00, Prime Video). The Foxes headed into the festive break in 17th place in the table after winning just one of their last 10 games in all competitions to lie just two points above the relegation zone.

Liverpool are red-hot 1/11 favourites at home, with Leicester on offer at 25/1 to cause a major upset, while the draw is priced at 11/1. 

Over 3.5 goals is priced at 8/15, with under 3.5 at 11/8, and it's 1/1 that both teams score in the match and 8/11 for at least one team to fail to find the net.

Liverpool are still without Ibrahima Konate (knee) and Conor Bradley (hamstring).  

Diogo Jota, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa are all in contention to start if Arne Slot chooses to rotate his squad, with Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch among the players who are one booking away from a suspension. 

Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy will be under pressure to make a change at goalkeeper after Danny Ward's errors against Wolves. Jakub Stolarczyk may be fit enough to take his place but Mads Hermansen (groin) remains sidelined. 

Wilfred Ndidi (thigh), Ricardo Pereira (thigh), and Abdul Fatawu (knee) are still out, but Facundo Buonanotte could be in line to return to the starting line-up.

Liverpool fans are used to their Christmas celebrations being extended by at least one more day as they have won their last seven Boxing Day fixtures and that league-leading sequence should be extended comfortably against struggling Leicester. 

The Foxes have had little success against the Merseyside giants, who have recorded 10 wins and two draws in the teams' last 12 league meetings at Anfield. 

Sunday's 3-0 home defeat by Wolves followed a 4-0 thrashing at Newcastle and now Leicester must travel to a rampant Liverpool side who hammered Tottenham 6-3 on Sunday. 

The outcome might not be pretty for the East Midlands club and Liverpool look set to inflict another defeat of at least four goals on the visitors. 

The Reds have conceded only five goals in eight home league games, while Leicester have conceded 22 times in eight road trips, with half of those goals coming in their last three away games at Manchester United, Brentford and Newcastle.

With the prospect of plenty of goals to be shared around for the home team at Anfield, it may be worth looking at some of the higher-priced players in the goalscorer market. 

Argentinian midfielder Alexis Mac Allister popped up to head home Liverpool's second goal against Tottenham and any similar forays into the box against Leicester could also bear fruit. 

Mac Allister opened the scoring in the Champions League home game against Real Madrid and may be able to join the goalscoring party against the Foxes too.
