Liverpool have parted ways with manager Arne Slot, the boss who brought the 20th league title to Anfield in 2024/25.

Liverpool have taken the leap this summer to change the manager, and with Slot less than popular with Liverpool fans, especially with the way Mo Salah’s Anfield career came to an end, it feels like the right decision.

"That this was a difficult decision for us to make as a club goes without saying. The contribution Arne has made to Liverpool FC in the time that he has been with us has been significant, meaningful and - most importantly of all to supporters and ourselves - successful," Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) said in a club statement.

"As such, our appreciation for everything he has achieved could not be greater, particularly as it was underpinned by a work ethic, a diligence and a level of expertise which further underlined our view that he is a leader in his field.”

However this season, things weren’t looking great on the pitch, although they did manage to qualify for the Champions League, which is an important achievement after a poor season. It looks as though former Bournemouth boss Iraola is going to be next in line, with various news sources reporting that he is set to be named as Slot’s replacement.

Iraola leaves Bournemouth having taken them to the Europa League this season, having replaced Gary O’Neil three years ago. He improved season upon season and now looks likely to get to manage the most successful club in English football in 2026/27.

But what do Betfred make of Liverpool’s chances next season now they have changed manager? Well, they are 6/1 to win their title back at the first time of asking, ranking them beneath Arsenal and Manchester City and level with Michael Carrick’s Manchester United.

Liverpool’s decision to change gaffers means that five of the ‘big six’ have changed their managers in 2026. Seismic. A top four finish is 4/9, even though they didn’t achieve that this season, while relegation, if you fancy it all to implode, is 750/1 with Betfred.
