A festive treat is served up at Anfield on Saturday night (17:30) as Liverpool welcome Arsenal for a top-of-the-table showdown on Merseyside.

The Gunners are one point ahead of Jurgen Klopp's men coming into the game, after their 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend. Meanwhile, the Reds were left frustrated after sharing the spoils with Manchester United last time out in the league, but soon got back to winning ways in midweek with a 5-1 thrashing of West Ham United.

Liverpool vs Arsenal Prediction

  • Draw and both teams to score @ 16/5
  • Mohamed Salah to score anytime @ 6/4

Team News

Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota, Andy Robertson, Alexis Mac Allister and Stefan Bajcetic are unavailable for the hosts, while Ryan Gravenberch was rested midweek, so he could return to the fold here.

As for the visitors, Fabio Viera, Jurrien Timber, Thomas Partey, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jorginho are set to miss out.

Match Odds

Liverpool are 11/8 to claim all three points, while Arsenal are 7/4 to do the same and the draw is priced up at 13/5.

Mohamed Salah is the favourite to score anytime at 6/4, while he's 4/1 to break the deadlock and 5/1 to be the last goalscorer.

Draw and both teams to score @ 16/5

Liverpool will be kicking themselves that they couldn't beat their bitter rivals Manchester United last weekend, especially having dominated possession for the majority of the game. However, the Reds remain unbeaten at Anfield in the league this term, winning seven and drawing one.

Arsenal's two league defeats this season have both come away from home, and after surrendering a two-goal lead at Anfield last year, I'm reluctant to back the Gunners in terms of the match result.

However, one thing this game should guarantee (famous last words) is goals. There have been over 2.5 goals in the last 10 Premier League meetings at Anfield, and last season’s two league encounters between these clubs produced a total of nine goals.

Arsenal have netted in 23 of their last 27 away matches, and Liverpool have no issues scoring at Anfield so I'm going to play the draw and both teams to score.

Mohamed Salah to score anytime @ 6/4

Salah cut a frustrated figure last weekend against Manchester United, but the Egyptian international got himself back on the scoresheet in midweek against West Ham United, and I fancy him to follow that up with another goal against the Gunners on Saturday.

The 31-year-old has 15 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for the Reds this term, but he hasn't scored a league goal at Anfield since the 3-0 victory over Brentford on November 12, so he's due a goal in front of his own fans.

Salah has been prolific against the Gunners since his arrival to the Premier League, bagging eight goals in 13 appearances, and the former Roma winger also scored in the home fixture against Arsenal last season.
