Leicester City's stay in the Premier League is on borrowed time and they will look to delay their impending relegation with a rare win against Newcastle United on Monday night (20:00, Sky Sports Main Event).

The Foxes are 19th in the table, 15 points behind 17th-placed Wolves, while Newcastle are seventh and still dreaming of a top-four finish. Newcastle ran out 4-0 winners in the first meeting between the pair in December and a similar scoreline could be on the cards at the King Power Stadium. Below you can find my Leicester vs Newcastle predictions.

Team News

Midfielder Harry Winks was a notable absentee in the recent 2-0 defeat to Manchester City, and reports have suggested the Leicester playmaker has fallen out with head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Abdul Fatawu will not feature until next season, but he remains the Foxes' only long-term absentee.

Newcastle coach Eddie Howe has confirmed that Alexander Isak is a slight doubt due to a groin injury, while Anthony Gordon, Joelinton, and Kieran Trippier are also carrying knocks and may start Monday's encounter on the bench.

The Magpies are still chasing a top-four spot, though, so Howe may be willing to start his stars and give them an early night once the job is done.

  • Leicester have lost their last eight games in a row
  • Alexander Isak has scored six in his last seven

Leicester vs Newcastle Odds

Leicester are 11/2 outsiders for Monday's battle, with the draw 100/30, while Newcastle are strong 8/15 favourites.

Over 2.5 goals is priced at 8/11, while both teams to score is available at 10/11.

Newcastle striker Isak is the favourite to score anytime at 5/6, while backup striker Callum Wilson is 11/10 to find the back of the net.

Newcastle to win to nil @ 7/5

Leicester go into the game on the back of eight defeats in all competitions, and their seven successive defeats in the Premier League have practically ended their hopes of survival.

While it is still mathematically possible for Leicester to avoid the drop, they have looked lost under Van Nistelrooy and have failed to trouble the scoresheet in seven consecutive games.

Newcastle have only kept one clean sheet in their last eight in all competitions, but Leicester look a level below most other clubs this season and this should be a routine win for the visitors.

Alexander Isak to score anytime @ 4/5

Isak's minutes may be managed ahead of a busy few weeks for the Magpies, but the Sweden international has still got a chance to win the Golden Boot and Newcastle need to keep winning if they are to secure a top-four spot.

Isak has been in fine form since February, netting six goals in his last seven outings for club and country and even if he only plays a part of Monday's game, he could easily score past Leicester's fragile defence, having done so in the first meeting this season.

The Foxes have conceded 30 goals at home this season and 67 in total, so expect Isak to enjoy himself at the King Power Stadium.
