Valencia and Mallorca are separated by just two points at the bottom end of La Liga, with both sides in the relegation picture as we near the midway point. A victory for either would be a major boost in the final round of fixtures of 2025.

There's not much room for festive cheer at Mestalla, with Valencia fans now sadly familiar with the current state of affairs. Los Che have not finished higher than ninth since they last qualified for Europe in the 2018/19 season.

Their supporters remain ardently opposed to the ownership of Peter Lim, and they've grown accustomed to new coaches coming in and improving things for a brief while, before key players leave and standards slip again.

That cycle has played out once more in 2025. Carlos Corberán arrived at the turn of last year to initially spark a great upturn in their fortunes. The ex-West Brom boss steered the team away from danger and to what was ultimately a very respectable mid-table finish given the circumstances.

However, the likes of Giorgi Mamardashvili, Cristhian Mosquera, and Enzo Barrenechea moved on to pastures new in the summer. Any investment in the squad was predictably limited, and a return of just 15 points from 16 games so far this term, suggests it may not be long before this particular cycle ends, with Corberán a man under pressure.

Valencia have won only one of their last 11 league games. That solitary victory came via a 1-0 margin at home to rock-bottom city rivals Levante.

Recent performances have been slightly better, though. They competed well in a 2-1 defeat away to Atlético Madrid last Saturday. Corberán's side backed that up with a 2-0 win at Sporting Gijón in the Copa del Rey in midweek, with Dani Raba and Lucas Beltrán grabbing the goals.

The outlook isn't really any more positive at Mallorca. Jagoba Arrasate is nearly 18 months into his reign, but the ex-Osasuna boss has struggled to win over the fanbase, with his team's football rarely easy on the eye.

Results haven't been much better either, with just four wins in 16 league games so far this term. One of those did come last weekend, and in relatively impressive fashion as they saw off surprise package Elche 3-1. Omar Mascarell's long-range lob set up a victory that was sealed by a brilliant header from Vedat Muriqi.

Mallorca's main goal threat does tend to come from the Kosovo international. Muriqi is having an excellent season with nine goals in 15 league appearances. That accounts for exactly 50% of his team's total tally. The experienced target man is also averaging 4.5 aerial challenges won per game, which is more than any other player in La Liga.

The Balearic Islanders still head into this encounter following a fresh setback, after they were dumped out of the Copa del Rey by second tier Deportivo La Coruña in midweek. A 1-0 defeat in Galicia came with what was effectively a second-string lineup, with Arrasate clearly prioritising this match.

Team News:

Arnaut Danjuma is the most significant fitness doubt for Valencia. However, his form has dipped and he's not a guaranteed starter even if he recovers from an ankle problem.

Beltrán is pushing for a start up front, having also scored off the bench in Madrid last weekend. Luis Rioja could also come into the side, but Corberán has an additional injury doubt over centre-back Eray Cömert.

As for Mallorca, after a poor showing in the cup, Arrasate is expected to largely revert to the same lineup that started against Elche in La Liga last weekend.

However, he'll be missing Mascarell, who is on AFCON duty for Equatorial Guinea. Fellow midfielder Manu Morlanes is also an injury doubt.

Valencia vs Real Mallorca Predicted Lineups

  • Valencia: Agirrezabala, Foulquier, Tarrega, Copete, Vazquez, Correia, Ugrinic, Pepelu, Almeida, Lopez, Duro
  • Real Mallorca: Roman, Maffeo, Valjent, Raillo, Mojica, Aguado, Samu, Joseph, Darder, Virgili, Muriqi

Valencia vs Real Mallorca Odds

Valencia are the 19/20 favourites to claim what would be just their fourth league win of the campaign. You can back Mallorca at 16/5, while the Draw is priced at 9/4.

For bigger returns on the hosts, you can back Valencia to win to nil at 7/4. They are priced at 6/5 to score over 1.5 goals in the game, while you can back Valencia and Over 2.5 goals at 5/2.

Alternatively, Mallorca or Draw is on offer at 5/6 in the Double Chance market. The visitors are given an 11/8 chance of winning either half, while they can be backed at 3/1 to score over 1.5 goals.

Muriqi is available at 9/2 to score first, while you can back Mallorca's top scorer to register a goal at anytime at odds of 9/5.

The hosts have marginally more options in the final third. Hugo Duro has scored in each of their last two home games, and the forward is the 3/1 favourite to score first here. You can also back the 26-year-old to score anytime at 9/2, while in-form Beltrán is on offer at 23/10 in the same market.

Valencia vs Real Mallorca Stats

  • Valencia (2.50) and Real Mallorca (2.56) sit right on the average when it comes to Over/Under 2.5 Goals so far this season.
  • Valencia are also exactly at half-way (50%) for BTTS. Mallorca are slightly-above average at 63%.
  • The hosts only average 2.75 Shots on Target per 90 minutes. The visitors' are at 3.75.

Bet 1 - Half-time result - Draw @ 21/20

All things considered, this game does not exactly have the makings of a classic. Mallorca are a fairly one-dimensional side, who will see a draw as a positive result on the road against a rival in the survival battle. Their last away league game ended in a goalless draw against fellow strugglers Real Oviedo.

Valencia have looked short on ideas in the final third for much of the campaign. That has particularly been the case in the first half of their home league games. Five of their eight outings at Mestalla in La Liga have been goalless at the break. The other three all produced just one first-half goal. With that in mind, I'm backing the Draw in the Half-time Result market at odds of 21/20.

Bet 2 - Valencia or Draw & Under 2.5 goals @ 1/1 via Bet Builder

If there is to be a winner in this game, Valencia do look more likely. They've only lost one of their last five league fixtures, with minor improvements evident across the pitch. There are still areas of concern for Corberán, but his side have only lost two out of eight at home in the Spanish top flight.

Mallorca have only won once on the road in La Liga. With two midfielders potentially missing, they may struggle to get a firm foothold in this match, but they do have quite a strong back four, which ought to deal with most of what Los Che are able to throw at them.

75% of matches at Mestalla this season have ended with two or fewer goals. I can see that trend continuing here, and I'm using the Bet Builder to back Valencia or Draw and Under 2.5 goals at 1/1.
