Sevilla vs Celta Vigo Prediction: Os Celestes to win the 2nd Half at 2/1

The week in La Liga ends on Monday night with a mid-table clash as Sevilla entertain Celta Vigo. Seven spots may separate the two clubs but when you consider there are only six points between the two, they are part of a fairly tight middle-pack in Spain's top flight. Premier Sports 1 will broadcast this match live to TV viewers in the UK, with kick-off set for 20:00.

Match Preview:
La Liga's Monday night offering comes from the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, where the natives are getting restless again with Sevilla in danger of sliding towards a relegation battle.
Having finished 17th last term and sold arguably their two best players in the summer, it's not exactly a surprise that they are in the bottom half of the table. However, the Sevilla faithful were hopeful of a better campaign back in September, when their side stunned Barcelona 4-1 on this ground.
The Andalusians have collected just seven points from their 10 league games since then. Their two wins during that period did come in front of their own fans, but they head into this match following a damaging 3-0 home defeat against struggling Levante.
Matías Almeyda has done a reasonable job overall with limited resources. He has built a team that has been competitive in most matches, and they were relatively unfortunate to lose 2-0 at Real Madrid in their final outing of 2025.
However, there is a lack of cutting edge in the final third. As we reach the midway point in the campaign, no Sevilla player has scored more than three goals in La Liga. Isaac Romero and Akor Adams have largely competed for one place up top, while Alexis Sánchez has shown flashes of the great player he once was, but the Chilean clearly isn't the force of old at the age of 37.
Swiss international Rubén Vargas has been their most consistent attacking threat. The 27-year-old has chipped in with three goals and four assists in 12 appearances, a healthy return in an unconvincing side.
As for Celta Vigo, they couldn't buy a win in the opening weeks of the season. It took them until matchday 10 and a 3-2 triumph at Osasuna to put three points on the board. However, they did draw the majority of their early games, and an improved run of results since has seen them quickly climb the standings, with the Galicians currently looking good to challenge for European qualification again.
The secret to Celta's success over the past 18 months has been Claudio Giráldez and his commitment to playing positive football, while giving young players a chance. Since his promotion from the B-team job in 2024, the 37-year-old has put real faith in many of the players that he worked with in his previous role.
That approach has also created a situation where Celta have one of the deepest squads in the league. That has come in handy this year with Europa League football to contend with, and they've done a good job of balancing the demands of both domestic and continental action.
It's 10 points from four league outings for Los Celestes, heading into this trip. They were brilliant 2-0 winners at the Santiago Bernabéu in December, with Williot Swedberg bagging a brace. They also made a positive start to 2026, with a 4-1 home win over Valencia last time out.
Team News:
Nigeria's long run at the Africa Cup of Nations has been to the detriment of Sevilla, who will again be missing Chidera Ejuke and Akor Adams on Monday night. Centre-back Marcão also misses out, with the defender currently serving a six-game suspension after he reacted angrily to getting sent off against Real Madrid.
César Azpilicueta and Gabriel Suazo are significant defensive injury absentees, while Alfon González is also sidelined and misses out on a reunion with the team he left last summer.
By contrast, Celta Vigo should have a full squad to pick from for this game. Giráldez would have been happy with what he saw last weekend, but may still recall Carl Starfelt in central defence.
Sevilla vs Celta Vigo Predicted Lineups
- Sevilla: Vlachodimos, Carmona, Gudelj, Salas, J. Sanchez, Agoume, Mendy, Oso, Sow, Romero, A. Sanchez
- Celta Vigo: Radu, Alonso, Starfelt, Rodriguez, Carreira, Roman, Moriba, Mingueza, Swedberg, Iglesias, Zaragoza
Match Odds:
There's little to choose between the teams in the Match Result market. Sevilla are priced at 13/8 to win, while you can back Celta Vigo at 7/4. The Draw is on offer at 11/5.
If you're expecting plenty of action in the final third, you can back Both teams to score at 8/11. Over 2.5 goals is on offer at 11/10, while the hosts are priced at 6/4 to score over 1.5 goals.
You can back Celta to win either half at 4/5, while the Galicians are priced at 13/5 to score in both halves.
Visiting striker Borja Iglesias leads the way in the Goalscorer markets. The ex-Betis player is priced at 4/1 to score first, and 6/4 to score anytime as he looks to build on a strong campaign that has already seen the 32-year-old register seven goals in La Liga.
Romero should lead the line for Sevilla, and he's priced at 9/5 to score anytime. You can also back Alexis at 11/5 in that market, while Swedberg is available at 12/5 to get on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Sevilla vs Celta Vigo Stats
- Sevilla's xG of 18.9 is 18th out of 20 in La Liga. Celta Vigo are on 22.8, which is good for 10th.
- No team in La Liga have had more cards than Sevilla (59).
- Celta's keeper has the third best save percentage in the league at 77.5%.
Bet 1 - Draw or Celta Vigo & Over 1.5 goals @ 1/1 via Bet Builder
Celta Vigo are a tough side to beat, and they've only suffered four defeats in 18 outings so far this term in La Liga. Just one of those losses came on the road, which strongly suggests they can get a result against a misfiring Sevilla side.
After scoring four in their only game in 2026 to date, the Galicians should be full of confidence, and they certainly have the edge in the final third. Giráldez has a host of options for the two roles behind Iglesias, with Swedberg in good form and Bryan Zaragoza offering raw pace, while veteran Iago Aspas is still a genuine threat, at least as an option off the bench.
With 10 of the last 11 Sevilla games producing at least two goals, I'm using the Bet Builder to back Draw or Celta Vigo and Over 1.5 goals at 1/1.
Bet 2 - Second-half result - Celta Vigo @ 2/1
While Celta should have more quality in their starting lineup, the gulf will be even greater in terms of the two benches. The hosts are missing six players, while Giráldez's squad is built for European football and expected to be at full strength.
That depth has already helped the visitors throughout this season. 67% of the goals they've scored in La Liga have come after the interval. They've scored seven and only conceded four times in the second half on their travels.
It's a different story for Sevilla, who have been much better in the first half, particularly at home. They've conceded just four times before the interval at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, but 11 times after the break.
Those trends and Celta's superior bench suggests backing the away team at 2/1 in the Second-Half Result market offers value.
