Real Mallorca vs Sevilla Preview:

La Liga's Monday night offering comes from the Balearic Islands, and it's a bottom-half showdown between Mallorca and Sevilla.

These are as many as 12 clubs in the Spanish top flight who are still in the relegation picture. Mallorca are in the bottom three as it stands, but they'd move level on points with their opponents were they to win the match.

There was genuine optimism in Palma when Jagoba Arrasate was appointed as the club's new boss in 2024. He arrived following a very successful spell at Osasuna, which saw the Basque coach establish the Pamplona-based outfit in the middle section of La Liga, even guiding them to European qualification on one occasion.

A 10th-place finish in his first season at Mallorca represented a solid start, although many fans of the American-owned club were left frustrated by an uninspiring style of play.

This season the pressure has really begun to build on Arrasate. A very public fallout with club captain Dani Rodríguez led to one of the defining figures in the club's recent past being frozen out, and ultimately having his contract terminated in December.

The football has again been direct, with Mallorca's goal threat almost entirely centred around Vedat Muriqi. The target man has scored 14 times in 20 appearances in La Liga, a tally only Kylian Mbappé can better. His return accounts for a huge 58% of all of this team's goals.

Sevilla can also count on the services of an in-form striker. Akor Adams has scored three times in two matches since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations. He bagged a brace off the bench to rescue a late 2-2 draw at Elche, only 48 hours after clocking up 120 minutes for Nigeria in the third/fourth place play-off against Egypt.

The 26-year-old also netted the winner from the penalty spot as the Andalusians claimed a much-needed 2-1 home win over Athletic Club last time out. Having lost all four matches to nil while Adams was on AFCON duty, Matías Almeyda will be hoping that those recent results mark the start of an upturn in the fortunes of his side.

No other Sevilla player has scored more than three goals in the league this term, but they're hoping January addition Neal Maupay can make an impact. The ex-Premier League striker has struggled for minutes since moving to Marseille in 2024, but should find more opportunities at his new club.

Los Nervionenses started the season by winning three of their opening four away games, but they've not won on the road in La Liga since a 1-0 triumph at Rayo Vallecano in September. Victory on Monday night would see Almeyda's side climb back into the top half, and significantly ease their relegation fears.

Team News:

Defender Marash Kumbulla is expected to be the only absentee for Mallorca. Skipper Antonio Raíllo did make the bench last weekend following cheekbone surgery, but clearly wasn't deemed ready to start in central defence. Arrasate must decide whether or not to risk his key centre-back.

There may be one or two other changes following the 3-0 defeat to Atlético Madrid last time out. Young winger Jan Virgili stands a good chance of being recalled on the left flank, while Takuma Asano and Pablo Torre are also pushing for starting roles.

As for Sevilla, they're missing both Nemanja Gudelj and Marcão to suspension, with the latter set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury in any case. Wide players Rubén Vargas and Adnan Januzaj are also missing due to fitness issues.

The visitors have additional doubts over defenders César Azpilicueta and Tanguy Nianzou, but veteran forward Alexis Sánchez is fit again and could feature off the bench.

RCD Mallorca vs Sevilla FC Lineups (Predicted)

  • RCD Mallorca: Roman, Maffeo, Valjent, Lopez, Mojica, Costa, Mascarell, Joseph, Darder, Virgili, Muriqi
  • Sevilla FC: Vlachodimos, Carmona, Castrin, Salas, Sanchez, Agoume, Mendy, Suazo, Fernandez, Romero, Adams

Match Odds:

Mallorca are the 6/4 favourites to win this six-pointer, while the Draw is on offer at 21/10. Sevilla are available at 2/1 to claim an important victory as they bid to ease their relegation fears.

If you like the look of the hosts, you can also back Mallorca to score over 1.5 goals at 13/8. They are priced at 11/4 to win the game to nil, while you can back Arrasate's team to be leading at both half-time and full-time at odds of 3/1.

Both teams to score is on offer at 5/6, while you can back Sevilla to win either half at 10/11. The visitors are priced at 3/1 to score in both halves.

On current form, this clash is very much a tale of two strikers. You can back Muriqi to open the scoring at 10/3, while the powerful frontman is on offer at 4/1 to score a header.

From a visiting standpoint, in-form Adams is priced at 4/1 to score first, and 8/5 to score anytime. His likely strike partner Isaac Romero is on offer at 11/5 to get on the scoresheet.

RCD Mallorca vs Sevilla FC Stats

  • Mallorca are the third-best team for BTTS in La Liga at 67% for the season.
  • The home side are 70% for BTTS in matches in front of their own fans, the visitors are at 60% for road games.
  • Only Barcelona (82%) are better than Sevilla (67%) and Mallorca (62%) for over 2.5 Goals.

Bet 1 - Kylian Mbappé to score anytime & Real Madrid to score over 1.5 goals @ 8/11 via Bet Builder

The change in the dugout has done little to alter the sense that Real Madrid are a team entirely built around serving Mbappé. The 27-year-old has fired in 36 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions this season, and has already netted 80 for Los Blancos since completing his long-awaited move to Spain in the summer of 2024.

Mbappé has scored at least once in each of his last seven starts. That run ought to continue here against a Rayo defence that has looked shaky in recent weeks. The visitors have let in three or more goals in three of their last five outings in La Liga.

Pérez's team have not even had a particularly tough run of fixtures, with those heavy losses coming against Elche, Celta and Osasuna. If the home team are in the mood, they should have little trouble getting the job done, and I'm backing Mbappé to score anytime and Real Madrid to score over 1.5 goals at 8/11.

Bet 2 - Jorge de Frutos 1+ shots on target @ 1/1

It's still too early to make any sweeping conclusions about Real Madrid under Arbeloa, with their performances under his guidance so far something of a mixed bag.

One trend has been the high number of shots they are facing. Opposing teams have averaged 14.6 attempts per 90 minutes against Arbeloa's Madrid to date. Rayo are a team that likes to get shots away, with their average of 13.5 the sixth-highest figure in La Liga this term.

With the visitors likely to again use De Frutos as their striker rather than on his usual right flank, I'm backing the 28-year-old to have at least one shot on target against his old club at odds of 1/1.
