Georgia face one final hurdle in their quest to qualify for a first-ever international tournament, as they face Greece in their Euro 2024 play-off final on Tuesday (KO, 17:00).

The clash will take place at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi, the venue for Georgia's 2-0 semi-final win over Luxembourg last Thursday. Below is our Georgia vs Greece prediction, alongside all the latest team news and match odds ahead of this fixture, which can be streamed live on Viaplay Sports' Online service.

Georgia vs Greece Betting Tips

  • Both teams to score (90 mins) @ EVS
  • Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to score anytime (90 mins) @ 23/10

Team News

Georgia were without their talismanic forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for their 2-0 win last Thursday, but the Napoli star is free to return this week after serving his suspension.

The 23-year-old will surely walk back into the starting XI, but it might not be to replace Budu Zivzivade, who took his chance against Luxembourg by scoring both goals to send his nation into the play-off final.

Instead, it could be either Giorgi Chakvetadze (Watford) or Georges Mikautadze (Metz, on loan from Ajax) who make way for Kvaratskhelia.

Greece eased to a 5-0 win in their own semi-final play-off last week, with Kazakhstan the unfortunate victims in Athens. Panathinaikos forward Fotis Ioannidis scored one of those five goals and is expected to lead the line on Tuesday ahead of both Vangelis Pavlidis (AZ Alkmaar) and Georgios Giakoumakis (Atlanta United).

There will likely be a trio of Premier League players in the Greece starting XI again with George Baldock (Sheffield United) and Kostas Tsimikas (Liverpool) lining up either side of a four-man defence which has goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos (Nottingham Forest) behind them.

Match Odds

Georgia are 23/10 to win (90 mins) and secure a place in an international tournament for the first time in their history, while Euro 2004 champions Greece are 13/10 favourites to claim victory (90 mins) and reach their first major competition since the 2014 World Cup.

The draw, which would send the tie to extra time and potentially penalties, can be found at 21/10, while both teams to score is EVS.

Both teams have found the net in just two of Greece's last 11 matches, but seven of Georgia's 11 games since the start of 2023 have seen both teams score, and the Crusaders have only failed to fire in one of those.

Greece have scored in seven of their 11 since the beginning of last year, with multiple goals against France (2-2) and the Republic of Ireland (2-0 and 2-1) bringing their tally up to 23.

With Greece favourites and Georgia at home, I expect both teams to be on the offensive and score inside 90 minutes.

The hosts have several players in good scoring form for their clubs, notably Zivzivadze (Karlsruher), Kvaratskhelia and Mikautadze, while the visitors have Ioannidis, Giakoumakis and Pavlidis, all of whom are among the highest scorers in their divisions (Greek Super League, MLS and Eredivisie respectively).

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to score anytime (90 mins) @ 23/10

Napoli's wing wizard endured a difficult start to the 2023/24 season but, just like his club side, his fortunes look to have changed.

Kvaratskhelia scored twice in a 6-1 win over Sassuolo on February 28 before opening up March with a goal apiece against Juventus and Torino. He was subsequently kept out in difficult contests against Barcelona and Inter but should be well-rested for Tuesday after serving a suspension in Georgia's play-off semi-final last week.

He's in terrific form for country as well having scored twice against Scotland and once against Spain in the previous international window last November.

Prior to those games, 'Kvaradona' struck against Thailand and Cyprus in the October internationals, bringing his national team total to five in his last four, and Greece will have to be at their best to deny him scoring in a fifth-straight match for his country.
