Football Bet of the Day: Honours even at the Hawthorns?

Friday’s fixture card produces an intriguing Midlands derby, as fourth-placed Leicester travel to The Hawthorns to face West Brom.
Both have experienced a dip in form over recent weeks, with neither having secured a victory since the Championship resumed following the international break. Read on for our Football Bet of the Day for Friday.
Football Bet of the Day - Friday, September 26
- West Brom vs Leicester - Draw @ 11/5

Ryan Mason’s West Brom were eliminated from the EFL Cup first round courtesy of a penalty shootout defeat to Derby, while the Foxes suffered the same fate at the hands of League One Huddersfield.
Therefore, neither side were in midweek action, enabling them to have plenty of rest before Friday evening’s keenly anticipated tie, which features in our Football Bet of the Day.
Live coverage of the match will be broadcast on Sky Sports Football, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- West Brom have accumulated 10 points so far this season
- Leicester have won just once away from home this term
West Brom started the new campaign in scintillating fashion, amassing 10 points from their opening four league fixtures. Impressive triumphs over Blackburn and newly promoted Wrexham was followed by a 1-1 draw with Portsmouth, before a hard-fought victory over high-flying Stoke propelled West Brom into second position.
However, consecutive defeats have served to derail the Baggies’ progress. EFL Cup vanquishers Derby delivered a smash-and-grab win at The Hawthorns on matchday five, before last Friday’s loss in Teesside helped to extend Middlesbrough’s lead at the summit of the Championship table.
Nevertheless, West Brom will take some comfort from the fact opponents Leicester have also stumbled upon tricky times after showing early signs of promise.
Marti Cifuentes’ outfit dispatched Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton, and Birmingham during the season’s initial exchanges, although they were beaten by Preston in their first away outing. Two frustrating draws – a 2-2 stalemate at Oxford’s Kassam Stadium and an eventful 0-0 against Coventry last weekend – leaves the East Midlanders desperate for a win.
Albion have only managed to net two league goals on home soil this term, so we may not see much action in the visitors’ final third on Friday evening.
Meanwhile, Leicester have scored fewer goals than four of the other five teams in the current top six and have only won once on the road so far. Therefore, don’t be surprised if neither of Friday’s opponents succeeds in landing a knockout punch.
Given that both managers would perhaps be content with a share of the spoils against the backdrop of current form, we may see a rather cagey affair at The Hawthorns – a draw appears to be the most likely outcome.
