Sheffield United vs Blackburn Odds
Sheffield United don’t have anything to play for in the Championship this season other than pride, but they have won their last two games under Chris Wilder. It’s been a struggle this term for the Blades, but there is no doubt that they have improved significantly since their legendary manager returned to take charge.
Had they not made the error of appointing Ruben Selles at the start of the season, they would surely be in the top-six conversation. Another new manager has also improved the fortunes of Blackburn Rovers, as Michael O'Neill took charge of a side that had amassed just 27 points from 30 matches,
Now they sit on 49 after 44, having held probable champions Coventry to a 1-1 draw on Friday night. The Sky Blues celebrated promotion at Ewood Park, but Blackburn are now just a handful of points away from confirming their own survival, which will be a significant achievement given where they were in the winter.
A trip to Bramall Lane is tricky to predict in terms of a match result, but I do think there is value to be had in backing a card. Gustavo Hamer could well be out of the door this summer if the right offer comes in, as there is only one year left on his contract, but he is still starting most weeks for the Blades.
He’s got 10 yellow cards this season in 36 league games, and has started four of the last five games. There’s no doubt that Sheffield United are a better team when he plays, but he’s also culpable of getting caught up in late tackles or silly arguments on the pitch.
Blackburn are a combative and physical side and will rile the United players up as they look to get over the 50-point mark that should confirm survival. Hamer is likely to be wound up by this style of play, and therefore the 11/4 on him to get booked is worth considering.
