Football Bet of the Day: Hatters to seal their play-off place on Tuesday

Stockport County can seal their place inside the League 1 play-offs on Tuesday when they host relegated Port Vale at Edgeley Park (19:45 BST, Sky Sports+). The Hatters have unfinished business in the end-of-season eliminator after losing out to Leyton Orient in last year's semi-finals.
Dave Challinor's side need just one point to book their top-six spot but my Football Bet of the Day has them taking all three. Check out my selection below.
Football Bet of the Day - Tuesday, April 28
- To Win To Nil - Stockport @ 5/4
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
Port Vale are 13/2 to snap their three-game winless run, while the draw can be backed at 18/5.
The Valiants have failed to score in three of their previous five away trips in the third tier, with BTTS - No here marketed at 4/5.
Stockport have won four of their past five home games in League 1 and they are deemed the 2/5 favourites on Tuesday.
I think the Hatters are worth backing to claim the three points, but we need better odds. For my Bet of the Day, I have gone for Stockport to win to nil at 5/4, which has an implied probability of 44.4%.
The home side have recorded clean sheets in each of their three most recent victories in the league, while this was also a successful bet in October's reverse fixture at Vale Park - with the Hatters winning 3-0.
They also kept the Valiants at bay when meeting for a second time in Staffordshire in the last 16 of the EFL Trophy - posting a 4-0 scoreline on that occasion.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Stockport have won 4 of their last 5 home games, 2 of which have been to nil
- The Hatters' past 3 victories have come with clean sheets
- Port Vale have blanked in 3 of their 5 most recent away trips
Challinor's squad has been hit with injuries of late but the players have still been able to put results on the board. Their top scorer, Kyle Wootton, has had to fill in at centre-back recently and he has received praise for his contribution in the back line.
The Hatters are determined to get over the line and secure their play-off place, allowing them to rest key personnel in their final league fixture at Barnsley on Saturday.
Port Vale have no motivation for this clash as their fate has already been sealed, so injuries or not this will be seen as a free hit for Stockport and I am backing them to make the most of it.
I am expecting another comfortable victory against Port Vale to give them a strong finish on home turf before the play-offs.
