Football bet of the day

Internacional were beaten 2-0 at Vitoria last weekend, but the return of an influential forward offers encouragement ahead of Sunday's Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A game at Red Bull Bragantino (11am local, 3pm BST).

This match at the Estadio Municipal Cicero De Souza Marques, and the player in question, feature in my Football Bet of the Day, which you can check out below.

Johan Carbonero is Internacional's joint-leading goalscorer in Serie A this season, netting four times, the same as Alexandro Bernabei.

The 26-year-old is only one goal away from equalling the most prolific league campaigns of his career, with his previous bests coming in 2019 and 2025, the first with Once Caldas in his homeland of Colombia and the second with his current side in Brazil's top flight.

Carbonero endured a slow start to the current campaign, scoring just twice in his first 15 league appearances, but he was on fire in his last game, bagging a brace and assisting the other two goals in a 4-1 thrashing of Vasco da Game on 16 May.

Red Bull Bragantino vs Internacional Odds

Unfortunately for the Colombia international, who has scored in each of his two outings for the senior national team but was left out of Los Cafeteros' World Cup squad earlier this week, he picked up a third yellow card of the league season against Vasco which saw him miss out against Vitoria last week due to suspension.

He'll be back this Sunday, though, and you can bet he'll be thrown straight back into Paulo Pezzolano's starting XI to help Inter get back on track.

Football Bet of the Day Stats

  • Carbonero (INT) has scored three goals in his last four league apps, including two last time out
  • He was on target the last time these two teams met, a 3-1 win for INT last December

Braganatino, meanwhile, are in good form, winning three of their last four games in all competitions (D1), and last time out in the league on home soil, they beat Vitoria 2-0 (17 May),

Massa Bruta were fifth heading into the weekend, five points ahead of Inter, but while they won last time out in Braganca Paulista, their home form hasn't been great this season.

At the time of writing, only seven clubs have picked up fewer points at home in this year's Serie A than Bragantino (13 from eight games), and they've conceded in five of those.

Vagner Mancini's men are missing several first-team stars this weekend, including suspended duo Rodriguinho and Henry Mosquera, who scored and assisted, respectively, in their 3-0 win at Vasco last Monday.

With the hosts not at full strength, there could be opportunities for Inter on Sunday, particularly on the break, and Carbonero is someone who can take advantage of space in front of him.

At 3/1, I think he's a good bet to return from suspension in emphatic style against a side he scored against last December when Inter ran out 3-1 winners in Porto Alegre.
