Mainz are 18/5 to inflict a second league defeat of the season upon the champions.

December's reverse fixture was a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena, with the stalemate here marked at 10/3.

Unsurprisingly, Betfred have Bayern as the 8/13 favourites to prevail, with Die Roten having won four league games on the spin.

Bayern's previous four fixtures in the Bundesliga have featured four-plus goals, so Over 3.5 Goals is an attractive bet at 1/1.

It is is within the goal markets that I have picked my Bet of the Day, and it is in favour of Bayern. I have gone to the Away Team Total Goals market and picked Bayern to score Over 2.5 at 11/8 (implied probability of 42.1%).

This is because Vincent Kompany's side have netted a whopping 109 goals across their 30 Bundesliga matches to date, and I think there will be more to come in the remaining four games. This means that their average per game stands at 3.6. On this evidence, two against Mainz should be a breeze.

The title winners have scored a minimum of three goals in nine of their previous 10 outings in the league, so this is a trend worth backing to continue on Saturday in Mainz.

Some of you may be hesitant given Bayern had a cup semi-final in midweek and they also have a Uefa Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain to prepare for.

Kompany may decide to rest some big-hitters on Saturday, so the free-scoring Harry Kane and wing wizard Michael Olise could be dropped to the bench against Mainz.

I still think the attacking stars will have a part to play in this clash, but it gives the fringe players a chance to show their manager what they can offer, whether it be in the remainder of this season or for the next one.

Even with a few tweaks to the team sheet, I still think that Die Roten will have plenty of quality in the final third and three goals should not be an issue here. Seven of their last nine head-to-heads with Mainz in all competitions have seen them score at least three goals, including two of the past four.
