Football Bet of the Day: Goals the order of the day in Houston

Saturday evening serves up two appetising fixtures at the FIFA World Cup. Germany and Ivory Coast go head-to-head in the later slot but before that we get to tuck into Netherlands vs Sweden (12pm local/6pm BST, BBC One), which takes place in Houston.
It's from this clash that I have sought value for my latest Football Bet of the Day column, and you can find my selection below.
Football Bet of the Day - 20 June 2026
- Total Goals - Over 3.5 @ 9/4
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
Betfred is favouring the Netherlands to win this Group F clash with a price of 8/11, and De Oranje have won three of the past five meetings.
Sweden are a 4/1 bet to come away with the three points and they've won each of their previous three competitive fixtures.
The draw can be backed at 11/4.
Five of the past six head-to-heads have seen both teams score, with BTTS - Yes marketed at 10/11 on this occasion.
Sweden's Alexander Isak registered a goal and two assists against Tunisia last time out. He's 18/1 to score and assist on Saturday.
I'll admit I was tempted with that last market but then I remembered Isak will be facing two very strong defenders in Virgil van Dijk and Jan Paul van Hecke.
Instead, I've gone for something more traditional - this being the Total Goals market.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- 4 of the last 6 meetings have gone Over 3.5 Goals
- Both teams' Group F openers featured at least 4 goals
- Over 3.5 Goals has struck in each of Sweden's past 5 outings
I'm drawn to Over 3.5 Goals here because it has been a trend in the recent history of this fixture.
Four of the six most recent encounters have produced four or more goals, and with the quality that both teams have in attacking areas, I think there are plenty of goals on the horizon.
Additionally, both teams saw this bet land in their respective opening fixtures at the tournament. The Netherlands played out an interesting 2-2 draw with Japan, while Sweden cruised to a 5-1 victory over Tunisia.
Over 3.5 Goals have now been struck in each of Sweden's last five matches in all competitions and I do believe we'll see this run stretch to six on Saturday.
