Football bet of the day

The World Cup festival of football continues at a pace with two games on Saturday night.

Qatar take on Switzerland in Santa Clara, while Brazil will bring the excitement when they meet Morocco at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Brazil failed to impress in qualifying, but manager Carlo Ancelotti has a proven track record of delivering major trophies and the Selection will have eyes on a sixth major trophy. Check out my Football Bet of the Day down below.

Qatar vs Switzerland Odds

Brazil were poor in the early part of the World Cup qualifiers and, while Carlo Ancelotti is now at the helm, there wasn't a great deal of improvement in the four qualification matches the former Real Madrid manager bossed.

Morocco were awarded the Africa Cup of Nations crown in controversial circumstances, but regardless of how that victory came about, the Atlas Lions are a strong side.

Morocco are certainly worth considering at a big price on Saturday night, but the play of the day comes in the contest between Qatar and Switzerland.

Qatar are candidates for the title of weakest team in North America and it's not a particularly bold suggestion to suggest that the Maroons will finish bottom of Group B and fail to collect a point.

Julen Lopetegui's men finished as the worst team in the competition when hosting the World Cup and it was a miserable campaign which saw Qatar lose all three games and score only one goal.

In fact, Qatar's performance on home turf in 2022 made them the worst-performing hosts in the tournament's history and there is unlikely to be much improvement four years later.

The Maroons are winless in their last six matches and they have won only one of their last 12 games.

The appointment of Lopetegui is a bright spot, but the former Real boss has a record of seven losses, three draws and two wins since taking charge in the Middle East and the playing squad isn't at the required level.

Switzerland are capable of going well in North America with a strong and experienced squad.

Sunderland enforcer Granit Xhaka can boss the midfield alongside youngster Johan Manzambi, while former Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji is a rock at the back.

Murat Yakin's strong squad is made almost entirely of players operating in Europe's top five leagues and Switzerland have lost only one of their previous 14 matches.

Handicaps, double result and to win to nil are all markets open to punters in this spot, but playing over 2.5 goals looks the best way to side with a rampant Swiss success.

The A-Team could easily win this contest 3-0 or 4-0 and a fortunate Qatar goal would be a boost to overs backers, unlike playing the handicap or other avenues.
