Football Bet of the Day: Arsenal to take one giant step towards the title

Arsenal are edging closer to their first Premier League title in 22 years. The Gunners are two points ahead of Manchester City heading into the final week of the campaign.
Mikel Arteta’s men host relegated Burnley at the Emirates on Monday (20:00 BST, Sky Sports Main Event) as they look to take a giant step closer to their goal. It is from this clash that I have picked out my Football Bet of the Day.
Football Bet of the Day - 18 May 2026
- Match Result & Total Goals Over/Under 3.5 - Arsenal & Under @ 23/20
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
As you’d expect, Betfred have Arsenal as the clear favourites to win this clash at 1/10. The Gunners are seeking a fourth straight triumph in the top flight.
The draw can be backed at 9/1, which was the outcome in Burnley’s most recent encounter against Aston Villa.
The Clarets are 22/1 to throw a curveball in the title race and beat the hosts.
I’m with Betfred, and most likely the rest of the world in expecting Arsenal to win this game. However, 1/10 odds are nowhere near good enough for this column.
I need to get creative and so my selection is one of the combined match result and total goals markets. My pick is for Arsenal and Under 3.5 Goals.
Arsenal have been very strong in the Premier League this term but it has been very rare for them to blow their opponents away.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Arsenal have won 14 of their 18 home matches in the Premier League
- 78% (14/18) have gone Under 3.5 Goals, including each of their last 5
- 7 of the past 9 meetings have seen fewer than 4 goals scored
A lot of their fine work comes from their defensive organisation. Any goals on top of what was required to secure them vital points were a bonus.
The Gunners have been very strong at home, winning 14 of their 18 league fixtures here.
The same cannot be said for Burnley on their travels. The Clarets have managed just two victories on the road, having lost 13 of their 18 matches.
Given the gulf in class between the two squads and the fact that this contest has far greater meaning to Arsenal, I am confident that the hosts will come out on top here.
The potential stumbling block is the goal threshold. However, I have gone with Under 3.5 Goals because this has been a winning selection in 75% of the Gunners’ outings in the top flight this campaign.
There have been fewer than four goals scored in 78% (14/18) of their clashes at the Emirates, including each of their previous five.
I think this combined bet offers great value to punters on Monday night at 23/20, which has an implied probability of 46.5%.
