Football Bet of the Day: League leaders to extend their advantage in Ireland

There's five League of Ireland Premier Division matches taking places on Friday. The standout fixture is a top-of-the-table clash as leaders Shamrock Rovers host St Patrick's Athletic (19:45). The hosts are five points clear at the summit but the visitors do have a game in hand. 

It's from this game that I have picked out my Football Bet of the Day, which you can check out below.

Shamrock Rovers vs St Patrick's Athletic Odds

The Saints have just one win from their past five outings in the league and they are 2/1 to come away with the three points.

The draw is priced at 21/10, which has been the outcome in three of their previous five fixtures.

Both meetings this term have seen at least one team fail to score, with Both Teams To Score - No available at 4/5.

But for my Bet of the Day, I'm backing Shamrock Rovers to come out on top. The home side are 6/5 to win this clash, which has an implied probability of 45.5%.

The Hoops have won 11 of their 19 fixtures this term, including both meetings with the Athletic. Stephen Bradley's side have the chance to give themselves some added breathing space at the top of the table and I fancy them to take it.

They have the home advantage and they have won seven of their nine outings at Tallaght Stadium in 2026.

The Saints have work to do on their travels if they are to really challenge Rovers this term. They have won just three of their nine away trips to date, while four of their games have been draws.

Additionally, in their two encounters with Shamrock Rovers this campaign, the Red Army have failed to score. Given their recent form, I think they will struggle against the leaders again so I'm backing the Hoops for the three points.
