Football Bet of the Day: Two elite goalscorers clash on Friday night

Football action is plentiful on Friday afternoon, with the European action from the continent and a couple of EFL games, one of which of course takes my focus for Football’s Bet of the Day.
We’ve got two Welsh sides going toe-to-toe in the Championship, as Wrexham host Swansea, live on Sky Sports Main Event (20:00 GMT).
Football Bet of the Day - Friday, March 13
- Bet Builder - Nathan Broadhead and Zan Vipotnik to score @ 7/1
*Odds correct at time of publication
If you weren’t already aware, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac - Wrexham’s owners - will be providing their own commentary on this game for Sky Sports, so that will certainly give a unique take on the action we see on the pitch.
Talking of that action, I think there will be plenty of goals in north Wales on Friday night. Wrexham slipped up in midweek as they lost 2-1 at home to fifth-placed Hull City, and that result has sent the Tigers clear, and put Wrexham within touching distance of both Derby and Southampton.
A win on Friday night will ease their worries, but I’m not convinced that they will get it. Instead I’m looking for goals with some excellent attackers on show. Kieffer Moore’s hamstring injury looks to have ruled him out for the next few weeks so it looks as though Sam Smith could lead the line again, but I like the look of Nathan Broadhead for another Wrexham goal - after he bagged in the defeat to Hull.
He joined for big money from Ipswich over the summer and has found gametime slightly difficult to come by, but with a few attacking absentees he is looking to string together a run of minutes, and goals. He’s now started three games in a row, and scored two in his last four, so that look promising for the Welshman.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Nathan Broadhead has two goals in his last four games
- Zan Vipotnik is the Championship's top scorer with 17 goals
I’m going to pair him up with the Championship’s top goalscorer - Swansea’s Zan Vipotnik. The 23-year-old has proven himself to be an elite Championship striker this term, with a remarkable 17 goals in 35 league matches. He will be targeting a minimum of 20 goals before the season comes to a close, with Swansea relatively settled in mid-table.
I think this game should be relatively entertaining with plenty of goalmouth action. Swansea have massively improved since Vitor Matos came in and they’ve now only lost to Ipswich in their last five, so I’d expect them to be competitive in this one again, and Vipotnik is by far their best player this season.
Goals look likely in this all-Welsh clash, and I think we’re getting a good price on two in-form goalscorers to find the net.
