Football Bet of the Day: Big price from Sweden

The Women’s European Championship gets underway on Wednesday, but once again on Betfred Insights, I’ve cast my net further afield to find our Football Bet of the Day. 

This time I’m heading to Sweden to take a look at their Ettan Fotboll Division 1 Sodra on the hunt for some value. 

The Ettan Fotboll Division 1 Sodra is one of two divisions at the third tier of Swedish football, a long way away from the glittering lights of the Allsvenskan. We’ve got an intriguing clash coming our way from the bottom half of the table on Wednesday night as struggling Eskilsminne host BK Olympic in Helsingborg (18:00).

The home side currently sit 15th in the table, second-bottom, having only won one of their 15 league matches this term - which sets alarm bells ringing in my head. I don’t know if they have the ability to turn this season around, even though they have drawn seven times this term which has limited their progress. 

Another concern has to be their home form, which is actually worse than their away record. They haven’t won on home soil this season, picking up just four points in front of their own fans in total. 

Today's Football Fixtures

They are facing a BK Olympic outfit that isn't brilliant, but sit seven points above them in 11th. Their record this term reads: won four, drawn six and lost five, so they are a more competitive outfit, even though they haven’t won any of their last five league outings. I’m backing them to end that poor run given they have drawn with Hasselholm and sixth-placed Ariana recently, while they also hammered Eslovs 3-0 in the first round of the Swedish Cup. 

They will fancy their chances of picking up three points here, and I am slightly surprised to see them listed as outsiders for this fixture. I’m going to push things further by backing the away side to come away with all three points without conceding. 

Eskilsminne have seriously struggled for goals this season, scoring just 14 times in 15 matches in total, and managing to find the net just six times at home, conceding 17 in front of their own fans. They haven’t scored in their last two outings and they lost their last home match 3-0 to Hasselholm, the team BK Olympic recently drew 1-1 with.

There should a enough difference between these two outfits, and if this pattern continues, I think we are on for a big winner on Wednesday night.
