Football Bet of the Day: Chelsea heading for more blues

There is a feast of midweek Premier League action starting on Tuesday night as the top-flight fixtures continue to come thick and fast.

Chelsea have failed to win any of their last four Premier League outings so the Blues will hope Tuesday's visit from Bournemouth can help them return to winning ways.

However, the Cherries have been in fantastic form recently and things may not be as straightforward for Chelsea as the betting suggests. Read on for my Football Bet of the Day for Tuesday, January 14.

Football Bet of the Day - Tuesday, January 14

  • Bournemouth to beat Chelsea @ 4/1

Just as quickly as Chelsea were being talked up as potential Premier League champions this season, the Blues' title dreams appear to have evaporated.

A much-changed Chelsea side easily brushed aside League Two Morecambe in the third round of the FA Cup at the weekend, but that Stamford Bridge stroll will have little bearing on their Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Tuesday.

In their four league games prior to Saturday's cup win over the Shrimps, Chelsea have drawn with Everton and Crystal Palace and lost to Fulham and Ipswich.

The two defeats in that four-game winless spell will be of particular concern for Enzo Maresca.

Ipswich's win over the Blues was their first at home in the Premier League this season while the Blues allowed 14 shots against Fulham, who won the expected goals metric 1.78-1.22 at Stamford Bridge, showing their win was no fluke.

Maresca has chopped and changed his back four this season, indicating that he does not have complete faith in the defenders at his disposal, and Bournemouth will have a great chance of victory if Chelsea fail to sufficiently raise their game.

The upwardly mobile Cherries are unbeaten in their last nine matches and have already beaten Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal this season, so the Blues can ill afford to take them lightly.

Quotes of 4/1 about Andoni Iraola's troops recording a fourth win in five away Premiere League games look to seriously underplay their prospects of victory at the Bridge.
