Football Bet of the Day: 8/1 Price Boost for League 1 clash

Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day comes from the key fixture in League 1 as two promotion rivals go head-to-head on matchday one.

I’m really keen on Stockport County’s promotion hopes this season and unsurprisingly, I believe they will therefore be able to get the better of Bolton on Sunday. The Hatters lost in the play-off semi-final to Leyton Orient on penalties last season, but they remain one of the strongest teams in the league and should be able to get closer to the top two this time around - now that Birmingham City and Wrexham are out of the division.

Dave Challinor has been wonderful for this football club and remains in charge, looking to get another promotion on his CV and they’ve added the likes of Malik Mothersille to their attack to hopefully take them to the next level. Bolton meanwhile could challenge for the play-offs under Steven Schumacher but it feels like they are a step behind their hosts on the opening weekend of the season.

So I would expect Stockport to get all three points on Sunday in front of the Sky cameras, but our Football Bet of the Day doesn’t even require them to secure maximum points to land us a winner.

Instead, I’m going to back their attackers to get the job done and show some real intent across the 90. Last term they scored 72 goals in 46 regular season games, while the addition of former Peterborough man Mothersille should help them increase that number. Their other major addition in the last few days has been Nathan Lowe.

He was on loan at Walsall in League 2 in the first half of last season and scored a ridiculous 15 goals in 22 appearances as they surged to the top of the table. He was recalled by Stoke City, but they’ve decided to loan him out to League 1 this campaign, and Stockport jumped at the chance to sign him. 

Let’s back him to find the net at anytime on his County debut, while I think we are also strong in backing Stockport to score in both halves given the quality on show. They should be able to assert their dominance over Bolton while our Price Boost is rounded off by backing the hosts to have 2+ corners in each half.
