Sunday 10th August 2025, 10:00am

Sunday’s football action sees Liverpool and Crystal Palace face off in the Community Shield at Wembley, while Leicester City face Sheffield Wednesday at the King Power Stadium.

We are focusing on the Championship fixture for Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day.

Football Bet of the Day - Sunday, August 10

  • Price Boost - Leicester to win both halves, Stephy Mavididi to score and 4+ goals @ 9/2

If you’ve not been keeping up with the Sheffield Wednesday saga this summer, let me quickly fill you in. Owner Dejphon Chansiri is seemingly intent on taking this club to the brink and possibly beyond, with players and staff failing to be paid at various points over the summer.

Their July wages were finally paid on August 8, meaning the players should fulfil this fixture, but those wages did not come from their owner or the club. They were only able to pay their staff as they received their solidarity payment from the Premier League this week.

Leicester City vs Sheffield Wednesday Odds

Manager Danny Rohl was trying to get out of the club at the end of last season and didn’t initially return to pre-season but was finally let go on July 29, along with several key members of the first-team staff.

His assistant Henrik Pedersen is now in charge, but the squad looks incredibly threadbare, with the club under a transfer embargo and players jumping ship at every opportunity. They are down to 16 players with senior experience, while even though captain Barry Bannan has signed a new deal, there is no guarantee that he can start due to a registration issue.

Added to that, the 9,255-capacity North Stand at Hillsborough after Sheffield City Council issued a Prohibition Notice following a meeting with the local Safety Advisory Group. The players pulled out of a recent pre-season friendly with Burnley in protest, so although they look likely to play this game, I’m not sure a club has ever been less prepared for a new season.

Football Odds

They are likely to get a thumping from Leicester City, recently relegated from the Premier League. Marti Cifuentes is going to want to make a big impression on his home debut at his new club, while the talent is plentiful. Harry Winks, Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi have all shone at this level before, so the Foxes should run riot.

They are just 1/4 to win this game, so let’s instead look at a Price Boost. Betfred are offering 9/2 for Leicester to win both halves, Mavididi to score and 4+ goals in the game. The Foxes should have no trouble pushing Wednesday aside with ease, while Mavididi scored 12 Championship goals the last time he was at this level.

Let’s back this for our Football Bet of the Day.
