Last week we went close with our 27/1 fourfold for the 3PM kick-offs but it was not to be. This Saturday we stick to four games but it is a 17/1 shot including two top-of-the-table sides at home, both getting more than half decent prices…

Our Saturday 3PM fourfold starts off at Portman Road where you can get top-of-the-table Ipswich at odds against to win. Already my interest is piqued just by that sentence. The Tractor Boys have looked pretty darn decent since their return to the division to say the least and as I said last week in this very column, they have real options up top. Leeds have only been able to muster two points from their three games so far and that is disappointing for a side heavily fancied to go well. Long-term I still think they have every chance but their squad is still not settled and they are still getting used to what Daniel Farke wants out of them. Give me the home side to make it four from four.

One other game in the Championship where I’m looking at you Middlesbrough and just shaking my head. Can it only be a few months ago that I was putting Chuba Akpom in my anytime goalscorer treble pretty much every week? Now he’s gone as is the exciting Cameron Archer. Things have not started well for Michael Carrick and his side and they were only able to claw a point at home against a poor Huddersfield outfit a week ago. I don’t think the Baggies are anything more than a middle-of-the-table team but my opinion of ‘boro is through the floor at the moment. A chance to back against them at odds against on the road feels like an obvious choice.

Down in League 1 and Wigan Athletic under new ownership with the impressive young Shaun Maloney in charge have started their season in blistering form. They are dealing with an eight-point deduction but they have already overcome that within four games to be on positive points. Last Saturday they took apart their neighbours Bolton 0-4 up at the Toughsheet Community Stadium. Barnsley looked incredible through 90 minutes of the season, dismantling Port Vale 7-0 on the opening day but back-to-back home defeats in their previous two games is a concern. Yet again getting odds against for the better team at home feels like the move.

The only game of the fourfold currently priced up at odds-on is down in the Medway Towns where top-of-the-table Gillingham are 8/11 to beat bottom-of-the-table Colchester United. Top vs Bottom rarely offers such good odds. Maybe the traders and punters aren’t convinced by the Gills four straight 1-0 wins yet but pretty much anytime you give me that price for a 1st vs 24th matchup then I’m taking it, no matter the teams involved.
