Scotland vs Denmark Prediction: Expect goals in Glasgow

It all comes down to this. Scotland and Denmark are competing in a straight shoot-out for top spot in Group C of the Uefa World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday (19:45 GMT, BBC Two). The winner would seal their place at next summer's finals and the loser would have to go through the play-offs.
Below you will find my Scotland vs Denmark predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Veteran goalkeeper Craig Gordon was deployed between the sticks for Scotland in Saturday's defeat in Greece following Angus Gunn's injury. The 42-year-old was at fault for the third goal but he did make seven stops in the game and should continue in net against Denmark.
Boss Steve Clarke may consider dropping Che Adams after the forward squandered a couple of opportunities last time out, so he may turn to either Lawrence Shankland or Lyndon Dykes to lead the line.
Ryan Christie scored in successive Scotland matches for the first time in five years, while Ben Gannon-Doak netted his first senior goal for his country.
Denmark were forced into a switch in the draw with Belarus last time out as forward Rasmus Hojlund fell ill and Jonas Wind took his place. Whether Hojlund will recover in time to feature in Glasgow remains to be seen.
Fulham centre-back Joachim Andersen is also struggling to overcome a virus which appears to be plaguing the Danes ahead of this crunch clash.
Scotland vs Denmark Predicted Lineups
- Scotland: Gordon; Ralston, Souttar, McKenna, Robertson; McGinn, Ferguson, McTominay; Gannon-Doak, Christie; Adams
- Denmark: Schmeichel; Kristensen, Andersen, Christensen, Dorgu; Hojbjerg, Hjulmand; Isaksen, Eriksen, Damsgaard; Hojlund
Scotland have won both their home qualifiers so far and they are 5/2 to come out on top on Tuesday.
The two teams played out a goalless draw when they met in the reverse fixture in September. The stalemate is valued at 9/4 (implied probability of 30.8%), while the 0-0 scoreline is available at 8/1.
Denmark have won their two away trips in Group and they are 23/20 to take the victory.
Scotland vs Denmark Stats
- BTTS - Yes has struck in Scotland's last three matches
- Over 2.5 goals has landed in each of Denmark's past four fixtures
Both Teams To Score - Yes @ 5/6
Both teams missed an opportunity in their last game. Denmark had the chance to all-but secure their place at the World Cup finals with a win against Belarus given Scotland lost to Greece, while the Scots had the chance to move into the driving seat.
It has only increased the stakes for this contest, with this game determining who goes through and who has to settle for a place in the play-offs. Scotland will feel as though they have the advantage being the home side, but Denmark have been proficient on their travels.
Neither side can really afford to sit back at Hampden Park and so I think this battle can provide entertainment in the form of goals. I'm backing both teams to find the net because BTTS - Yes has been a successful bet in Scotland's past three outings in qualifying, two of which came on home turf.
Denmark's last two outings have also produced goals at both ends, so I am confident that we will see the net bulge at both ends of the pitch on Tuesday night.

Over 2.5 Goals @ 11/10
I think the result is a very tough one to call here. Both sides have credentials to go out and grab the victory and secure their place at the World Cup, but again, I think the value lies in goals on Tuesday.
Whether it's a high-scoring stalemate or a slender victory, I think over 2.5 goals looks a smart play at Hampden as there have been at least three goals scored in Denmark's previous four qualifiers. The Danes have landed this selection alone in three of those matches.
For the hosts, this has been a winning selection in their past three appearances. They scored three goals themselves in their home triumph over Greece last month, too.
The two squads are both filled with decent attacking options and given the onus on both teams to attack this game, I think the goals can flow in Glasgow.
