New Zealand:

New Zealand got off to a decent enough start in their World Cup campaign, picking up what could be a vital point against Iran, thanks to two Elijah Just goals. Both of those goals were assisted by star striker Chris Wood, who will again lead the line for the Kiwis.

It looks likely that they will stick with their settled starting lineup and it's doubtful that head coach Darren Bazely will be making any wholesale changes, despite twice conceding fro what would have been a winning position.

Egypt:

Egypt, meanwhile, were also denied an opening win thanks to Romelu Lukaku's instant impact from the bench in their 1-1 draw against Belgium. The Pharoahs had taken an early desrved lead through the excellent Emam Ashour, who will again look to star here in Vancouver.

Mohamed Salah looked fit and sharp up front for Egypt, as did fellow Premier League star Omar Marmoush, who will hope to link up again here against New Zealand. Hossam Hassan's team will be hoping his team can pick up three much needed points against the side ranked lowest in FIFA rankings at this entire World Cup.

New Zealand vs Egypt Key Players:

Elijah Just (New Zealand)

The 26-year-old midfielder plys his trade at Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, having joined from Danish outfit AC Horsens last summer. Just had a great debut season north of the border, scoring seven goals for Alfred Johanssen's team and being nominated for the League's Player of the Season award.

The 5ft 9in winger carried that excellent form into the World Cup, netting twice from Chris Wood assists on the back of some pretty direct football from the All Whites. It looks likely that New Zealand will carry on with that pattern of play and Just should get plenty of more opportunities to add to his 11 international goals.

Emam Ashour (Egypt)

Another young midfielder making waves in North America is Emam Ashour, who struck a superb opener for Egypt against Belgium, following a Salah assist. The 28-year-old plays his domestic football at Egyptian Premier League side Al-Ahly and finally broke into the national team at AFCON 2025.

Ashour's strike against the Belgians was his first international goal but you get the feeling it won't be the last, with him picking up some excellent positions behind the dangerous Marmoush.
