Team News
Nico Schlotterbeck is missing for Germany with an ankle injury, but Nathaniel Brown, who was sidelined for his country's final group game due to a muscular problem, is expected to return to Julien Nagelsmann's side on Monday.
Paraguay will be without influential midfielder Diego Gomez, who is serving a one-match suspension after picking up two yellow cards in the group stage.
Miguel Almiron is back from his own ban, however, while Omar Alderete (knee) and Ramon Sosa (muscle) both need to be assessed.
Germany vs Paraguay Predicted Lineups
- Germany: Neuer; Kimmich, Rudiger, Tah, Brown; Nmecha, Pavlovic; Sane, Musiala, Wirtz; Havertz
- Paraguay: Gill; Caceres, Alderete, Velazquez, Alonso; Almiron, Galarza, Cubas, Mauricio; Avalos, Enciso
Germany, who beat Curacao (7-1) and Ivory Coast (2-1) in their first two games of Group E before losing to Ecuador (1-2), are huge favourites to win in regulation time on Monday, with 4/11 odds implying a 73.3% probability of success.
Paraguay, who lost to the USA (1-4), beat Turkey (1-0) and draw with Australia (0-0) in Group D, are 15/2, or an 11.8% chance, to triumph in 90 minutes, with the draw, which would send the tie to extra-time, offered at 4/1.

Germany vs Paraguay Stats
- Cubas (PAR) committed the most fouls (11) in the group stage
- Cubas has received five yellow cards in 11 MLS apps this year
- Wirtz (GER) assisted in two of his three group-stage games
Player to Be Carded (Sub Switch) - Andres Cubas (PAR) @ 7/4
Paraguay midfielder Andres Cubas committed 11 fouls in the group stage, at least three more than anyone else, recording five, five and one, respectively, against the USA, Turkey and Australia, yet, the 30-year-old managed to avoid a booking in all three appearances.
I don't think this is sustainable, though, so even at 7/4, I'm looking at the Vancouver Whitecaps ace in the Player to Be Carded market.
Cubas received 12 yellows in 31 MLS games last year and was shown five in 11 before the league broke off for the World Cup. He was also booked four times in 13 qualifiers for Paraguay and is always a good bet for one.
Only seven players were fouled more times in the group stage than Germany playmaker Jamal Musiala (nine), who was taken down twice apiece by Curacao and Ivory Coast before being felled five times by Ecuador, who saw their forward Gonzalo Plata scribbled into the referee's notebook for an offence committed against the Bayern Munich man.
Betfred's Sub Switch rolls your bet to the oncoming substitute, so you stay in the game, even when your player doesn’t.

Player 1+ Assists (Sub Switch) - Florian Wirtz (GER) @ 21/10
Only three players, France's Michael Olise, Brazil's Bruno Guimaraes and Sweden's Alexander Isak (all three), provided more group-stage assists than Germany's Florian Wirtz (two), who provided his country's first goal of the tournament, scored by Felix Nmecha against Curacao, and set Leroy Sane up for the opening goal of the defeat to Ecuador last time out.
Wirtz registered two assists in six World Cup qualifiers last year as well as four in eight UEFA Nations League appearances during the 2024/25 campaign, and he had a hand in all four goals in March as Germany beat Switzerland 4-3 in a friendly, scoring twice and assisting twice.
The 23-year-old endured a tough first season with Liverpool after his big-money move, recording just three Premier League assists, but they were supplemented by five from across other competitions, bringing his Reds total to eight.
Despite playing in the same side as Musiala, Wirtz appears to be Germany's chief creative spark, and at 21/10, is fairly priced to assist for a third game at these finals.

Germany vs Paraguay Score Prediction
- Germany 2-0 Paraguay
Paraguay scored just twice in the group stage and only two other countries, Iraq (two) and Ghana (three), registered fewer shots on target than Gustavo Alfaro's side (five).
Meanwhile, Germany recorded the joint-most shots on target (22) and joint-most goals (10) in the group stage.
Germany boast a much more talented first XI and squad and should have too much for their opponents on Monday.
