France and Sweden meet in New Jersey on Tuesday (5pm local time/10pm BST, ITV1/STV) for their round-of-32 clash at the FIFA World Cup. France smashed their group with nine points, matching the feat of their 1998-winning side.

Sweden scraped their way into the knockout stage via the third-place route and they face a tough test as a result. Below I take a look at the latest France vs Sweden predicted lineups and team news.

France

Defender William Saliba was rested as a precaution against Norway because of a back issue. This was the same problem he picked up after the UEFA Champions League final with Arsenal.

Didier Deschamps may want to keep his centre-back out of trouble but Saliba might insist on featuring as we're now into the knockout stage. Maxence Lacroix started against Norway, and he'll hope to retain his spot if Saliba isn't passed fit in time.

The attacking quartet of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Michael Olise is expected to line up again for Les Bleus. Mbappe and Dembele have four goals apiece at the tournament, with the latter netting a hat-trick against Norway last time out.

Adrien Rabiot and Aurelien Tchouameni should partner each other in the engine room but Manu Kone replaced Rabiot on the team sheet against Norway.

Sweden

Anthony Elanga has been a bright spark for Sweden in what has been an unconvincing campaign for his side in North America so far. The Newcastle United winger scored an impressive goal from range against Japan on matchday three, and his pace will ask questions of France's defence.

Yasin Ayari has been effective in midfield and so he's not at risk of losing his place. There's a good chance he'll be joined by Tottenham Hotspur wantaway Lucas Bergvall.

The forward line of Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres will be needed to try and cause trouble for France's defenders.

France vs Sweden Key Players:

Kylian Mbappe (France)

Mbappe is the face of this France team but there are several players who could've just as easily been given the label of key player for this clash. Dembele was the hat-trick hero in the last match, while the creative talents of Olise and Doue are also not to be overlooked.

But it's Mbappe who's Les Bleus all-time top scorer and a previous winner of the Golden Boot at the World Cup. Sweden won't be the toughest game France will have in the tournament but Deschamps' men will still need to be at the races to progress to the round of 16.

Mbappe's skills in the final third can ensure Les Bleus get through, and against a Sweden side that has looked vulnerable at the back, the Real Madrid star could profit greatly on Tuesday.

Jacob Widell Zetterstrom (Sweden)

Goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom was handed his World Cup debut by Graham Potter in Sweden's 1-1 draw with Japan in their final group game. He looks set to retain his place between the sticks against France, and given the might of the attack he's about to face, I expect him to be the busiest Sweden player on Tuesday.

Amidst his breakthrough on the world stage, it's being reported that the Derby County shot-stopper is seeking a transfer this summer and his exploits at the World Cup will only aid him in raising his profile.
