France certainly made a big impression in their 3-1 win over Senegal, and Kylian Mbappe and his teammates will be licking their lips at the prospect of taking on Iraq. The underdogs conceded four to Norway, and are likely to find life tough again as they head to Philadelphia on Monday (5pm local, 10pm BST, BBC One).

Kylian Mbappe to score 2+

Lionel Messi has now matched Miroslav Klose’s World Cup goalscoring record of 16 goals, but there is little doubt that the record will be Kylian Mbappe’s. Probably by the end of this tournament unless Messi does something truly ridiculous in North America. 

Mbappe was quiet for the first half against Senegal, as were his teammates, but then he came alive with another electrifying performance. Had the most touches (seven) in the opposition box, took the most shots (four) and produced two goals, even when he wasn’t as his flying best. 

Iraq are going to seriously struggle with this French attack, and Mbappe should profit handsomely with at least two goals. Another Golden Boot awaits….

Over 4.5 France goals

I’m expecting an absolutely massive win for France here. Ousmane Dembele, Michael Olise, Desire Doue and Mbappe are likely to tear apart a defence that conceded four against Erling Haaland’s Norway. 

With Bradley Barcola scoring off the bench, Rayan Cherki only getting a couple of minutes and Marcus Thuram unused, the attacking depth is truly frightening. They managed eight shots on target against Senegal, and I would expect that tally to go way into double figures against a really poor Iraq side. 

They conceded five big chances in that 4-1 defeat and I think this could be a bit of a bloodbath in Philly. 

William Saliba to score a header

This is the pick that makes this Bet Builder a massive price. Iraq conceded four goals against Norway, all of which came from inside their own six-yard box. They are not a very big team, and struggled to deal with set pieces, with Leo Ostigard coming on and scoring a bullet header from a corner. 

I’m looking at France’s centre-backs to dominate from set pieces, and therefore I think we’ve found a good selection in William Saliba to score a header. He only scored one for Arsenal this season, with Gabriel taking most of the plaudits, but I think he can cause problems in Iraq’s box and find himself a goal with his head.
