Canada

After a lengthy wait, we finally saw Alphonso Davies introduced to the action at this summer's tournament. The Bayern Munich star came on for the final 15 minutes in Canada's victory over South Africa in the previous round, marking his first appearance for Les Rouges since March 2025.

The big question now is will Jesse Marsch start him seeing as the Canucks are into the round of 16? The American coach didn't rule it out but Richie Laryea has been impressive at left-back, and given his current fitness levels, he should get the nod over Davies.

Another headache for Marsch is who to select out of Promise David, Cyle Larin and Tani Oluwaseyi to partner Jonathan David up front, while there's also a debate for Jacob Shaffelburg to start on the left flank ahead of Liam Millar.

Apart from Ismael Kone's leg break on matchday two, Canada have no other injury concerns heading into Saturday.

Morocco

Chadi Riad was forced off in the 75th minute against the Netherlands last time out but the Morocco defender has been involved in training since, so he's expected to have a role in this contest.

Redouane Halhal and Marwane Saadane will be waiting in the wings if Riad is not in a position to start the match.

Ismael Saibari has been one of the most eye-catching players in North America with three goals in four outings. Bayern Munich's newest signing is set to retain his place as the Atlas Lions' front man.

Rumours continue to swirl around 18-year-old midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, with Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester City both interested in procuring his services from Lille. His exciting partnership with Neil El Aynoui should continue on Saturday in Houston.

Canada vs Morocco Key Players:

Tani Oluwaseyi (Canada)

There's a lot of competition to partner David up front for Canada but I think Oluwaseyi will get the green light on Saturday. The Villarreal attacker is yet to score at the World Cup, yet he's been a handful when he's featured.

His 6ft 2in frame has caused problems for the defenders he's faced so far and his strength has made him a useful outlet for the Canucks. Marsch will look to use this to get his team high up the pitch and ask questions of Morocco.

The Atlas Lions will need to be razor sharp against Oluwaseyi because his positioning for taking down long balls or to make runs off the shoulder can move Canada into threatening areas.

Ismael Saibari (Morocco)

There are several players who I could easily have picked out as Morocco's key player for this clash but I can't look past the striker Saibari. He's blanked in just one match at this World Cup and I think he could have a field day against Canada's centre-backs, who have not instilled me with confidence over the past few weeks.

Saibari has already got a nice catalogue of goals at this tournament already, showing that he's potent in many different positions in and around the penalty box.
