Team News

Wolves came through their upset win over the Merseyside giants unscathed. With no injuries to worry about, it will be rotation on the mind of head coach Rob Edwards.

Sam Johnstone has been the go-to FA Cup goalkeeper so far, so expect Jose Sa to make way for the former Manchester United custodian.

Alexander Isak’s nightmare first season at Anfield continues, with the ex-Newcastle striker still sidelined with a tibial fracture.

Florian Wirtz joined from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer and has had a far better time of it than Isak. A vital creative fulcrum, the attacking midfielder is a doubt with a back injury.

Arne Slot will also be without Wataru Endo (foot), Giovanni Leoni (ACL), Connor Bradley (knee) and Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring).

Wolves vs Liverpool Odds

Despite their midweek heroics, the Old Gold walk in as 5/1 underdogs while Liverpool are the 2/5 favourites. A draw in regulation time is 10/3.

Liverpool are 9/10 to be in the lead at half time while they’re 6/4 to win to nil.

 Wolves vs Liverpool Stats

  • The last four meetings between Wolves and Liverpool have all ended 2-1
  • Mo Salah has six goals and five assists across 15 PL games against Wolves

Liverpool to win and both teams to score @ 7/4

As you’ll see from the handy tips box above; the last four matches between these sides ended 2-1. Despite their travails, Wolves have a knack of making things competitive when Liverpool are the opposition.

Slot’s men have conceded the second-most goals of any side in the Premier League top 10 with 39. Wolves have only bagged 22 in the league, but three of those were against the Reds. That’s 13.6% of the West Midlands side’s total Premier League goals this term, stats fans.

I think Liverpool will gain revenge here. But even if Wolves only score one more goal all season; it will probably be against Liverpool.

Mo Salah to score anytime @ 23/20

On and off the field, this has been far from a vintage campaign for Mo Salah. Some candid comments about his apparent diminishing importance to the club he took to legendary heights saw Slot sideline the beloved ‘Egyptian King’.

When he has played, Salah has scored the least goals he has managed in a campaign since his regrettable spell at Chelsea a decade ago. So why am I backing the 33-year-old to net here? Because I think the goal he scored on Wednesday night will prove more important than the consolation in a 2-1 loss. I think it will spark Salah to finish the season strongly.

Eight goals in 30 games isn’t Mo Salah numbers but he is 33 and has been in and out of the team. As well as the public outburst, the Egypt international was at the Africa Cup of Nations over the winter. At the tournament, Salah bagged a respectable four goals in six matches.

Alongside those strikes, Salah has notched eight assists. He might not be the goal-getter supreme that he was but Salah is still vital for club and country. I think the momentum from Molineux will carry into this rematch.
