Everton vs Southampton Prediction: Sticky clash expected at Goodison

Everton will entertain fellow Premier League strugglers Southampton in Tuesday's third-round EFL Cup tie, with both teams desperate to secure a rare win.
Read on for my Everton vs Southampton prediction as well as the latest team news and match odds.
The Toffees have only won once all season, with that success coming in the second round of the EFL Cup against League Two Doncaster Rovers.
Everton have lost four of their five matches this season, with Southampton matching that record, with their 5-3 EFL Cup win over Cardiff City their only victory.
Team News
Everton recent signings Jesper Lindstrom and Jake O'Brien will hope to make their debuts, but Jarrad Branthwaite is unlikely to be risked as he recovers from a hamstring injury, while Vitaliy Mykolenko is a doubt due to illness.
Southampton defender Jack Stephens will miss out through suspension after his straight red card against Manchester United at the weekend in his team's 3-0 Premier League defeat.
Kamaldeen Sulemana and Gavin Bazunu remain long-term absentees, while Will Smallbone is unlikely to feature although he is close to full fitness.
Everton are considered 10/11 favourites for Tuesday's tie thanks to their home advantage, while the draw is 5/2 and Southampton are considered 11/4 outsiders.
Those who fancy a high-scoring game can back over 2.5 goals at 4/5, while both teams to score is available at 4/6.
Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the 13/8 favourite to score anytime, closely followed by fellow striker Beto at 15/8.
Draw (90 minutes) @ 12/5
For the second week in a row, Everton threw away a two-goal lead under Dyche. Before the international break, the Toffees surrendered a two-nil lead with three minutes left before losing 3-2 to Bournemouth.
They claimed the same advantage against Aston Villa at Villa Park, only to fall short and lose 3-2 again.
Saturday's defeat means Everton have now lost all four of their league games, while Southampton have suffered the same fate.
Confidence is bound to be low in both dressing rooms and, with both managers set to make changes, it is difficult to back either side with any conviction.

Under 2.5 goals @ 10/11
Tuesday's game will feature two of the lowest-scoring teams in the Premier League and, with changes made, it is difficult to see both teams improving.
Both Everton and Southampton will view Tuesday's game as a chance to improve and work on things, but with top-flight survival their main priority, it is hard to see both clubs focusing on the EFL Cup.
Everton have managed to score four goals in as many matches, but the Saints have only found the net once all season.
Tuesday's game looks like it could be one to avoid for the neutral, with a nerve-wracking low-scoring draw on the cards.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
