Dundee vs Rangers Betting Tips

  • Rangers win @ 1/3
  • Cerny to score first @ 9/2

Dundee enjoy home advantage on Saturday evening as they play Rangers under the bright lights and before the live TV cameras. Tony Docherty’s men have an opportunity to claim a major scalp before a global audience, and the locals have reason to be confident.

The Dee are unbeaten in their previous two games, claiming four of the six points available. They are currently in the relegation zone, but Dundee are just a point behind safety at this stage of the season. A home win would boost their chances of remaining in the top tier.

Rangers continue under the temporary guidance of interim manager Barry Ferguson following the sacking of previous boss Philippe Clement. The former Rangers and Scotland midfielder led his team to impressive wins in Scotland and Europe.

Ferguson’s team beat Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in the Europa League Round of 16. They also fought back from 2-0 down to beat Kilmarnock 4-2 at Rugby Park. Rangers then scored an overdue win at Celtic Park, beating the champions 3-2 in the Old Firm derby.

Dundee vs Rangers Odds

Dundee have recorded some good results against Rangers here in recent times, including a goalless finish last April that damaged Clement’s title bid. They are second from the bottom of the league but are showing signs of a fightback. A win on Saturday evening before the TV cameras would serve as a statement of intent from Docherty’s troops.

Fancy Dundee to upset the odds and beat Rangers at Dens Park? You can back the home side at odds of 15/2 on the Betfred website and mobile app.

It’s a new look Rangers playing a different brand of football under their former title-winning captain. It’s unclear if Ferguson has any chance of getting the job on a permanent basis, but he did his chances to harm whatsoever by beating elite managers in Mourinho and Rodgers.

Rangers boast 3-0 and 1-0 wins over Dundee already this season, but both came in Glasgow. How will they perform at Dens Park? Victory for Rangers is priced at 1/3, with the draw currently trading at 5/1. Remember, these sides drew 1-1 in January at this venue.

Rangers win

Rangers need a big performance here. The light blues will pick up where they left off when beating Celtic before the international break. Interestingly, Rangers couldn’t buy an away win under Clement. With Ferguson at the helm, they’ve won in Kilmarnock, scored four goals in Istanbul, and netted three at Celtic Park in the derby.

Rangers fans rarely look forward to visiting the City of Discovery after seeing their side drop points and offer below-par performances. But there’s a feeling confidence is returning to this Gers side and they are pulling in the same direction again. Back Rangers to score a third win in four games against Dundee this season. That bet will prove a valuable addition to your Saturday accumulators.

Cerny to score first

Having covered our main bet, we now turn our attention to a second pick, and it’s one for lovers of a bet at higher odds. We’re picking Vaclav Cerny to open the scoring at Dens Park and continue to prove he’s just too good for Scottish football. The attacker has been the standout performer for Rangers this season during his loan from Wolfsburg.

The Czech Republic cap was instrumental in the win over Celtic. He also scored two goals away to Fenerbahce, and he has a great record against Saturday’s opponents. Cerny has scored in each of the last two meetings of these teams, including in a 1-0 win at Ibrox just before Christmas. Cerny has been away on international duty this week, but he’ll start and can continue his devastating form.
