Crystal Palace ended the 2024/25 season on a high as they won the FA Cup at Wembley against Manchester City, the first major trophy in the club's history. This secured European football for the Eagles. It was meant to be the Uefa Europa League but multi-club ownership regulations saw them demoted to the Uefa Conference League, swapping places with Nottingham Forest.

Despite this, it looks like the new season will be an exciting one down at Selhurst Park. Below I have put together my predictions surrounding their 2025/26 campaign using Betfred's Crystal Palace Premier League Odds.

Crystal Palace Premier League Odds

Prediction: 13th

Oliver Glasner is building something special at Crystal Palace. The fans love him and his football. He has already written himself into legend with the FA Cup and he can add to it this term with success in the Conference League.

Their chances are looking good after they defeated Liverpool to claim the Community Shield on Sunday at Wembley. They started on the back foot and grew into the game, coming from behind twice before showing their composure in the penalty shoot-out.

The Austrian came across like a shrewd appointment for the Eagles based on what he accomplished at Eintracht Frankfurt - a Europa League title. That pedigree may serve him and his players well this season.

Premier League Odds

Palace had a comfortable 12th-place finish in the Premier League and they will hope to build on that this time around. As much as I am a big fan of their starting XI, there is work to be done on improving the quality in depth, especially with them having to juggle a ferocious schedule this term.

They have a proven goalscorer at this level in Jean-Philippe Mateta, whose Premier League career was truthfully brought to life by Glasner. Adam Wharton is already looking like one of the best midfielders in the division, while Ismaila Sarr is electric in attack.

Question marks remain over Eberechi Eze's future in south London, with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur seeking his services. If he stays it's a huge boost for Palace but if he departs they know they will be well compensated.

Transfer Business:

In: Borna Sosa (£2m, Ajax) and Walter Benitez (free, PSV Eindhoven).

Out: Rob Holding (free, Colorado Rapids), Jeffrey Schlupp (free, Norwich City), Luke Plange (free, Grasshoppers), Malcolm Ebiowei (undisclosed, Blackpool), Joe Whitworth (loan, Exeter City), David Ozoh (loan, Derby County) and Joel Ward (released).

As you can see Palace have not been very busy when it comes to incomings this summer, and this is something Glasner has hinted at in frustration. Considering what he has delivered the club, he deserves backing, particularly with his team having to manage European football as well as the other domestic competitions this year.

Football Odds

Regardless of Eze's potential exit, and Marc Guehi's for that matter, funds should be readily available for the Eagles boss to help him build on last season's success. Borna Sosa looked decent in his cameo appearance at Wembley on Sunday, but it's clear Palace need more quality in depth if Glasner is to keep them on an upward trajectory.

Their starting XI is excellent, and is good enough to tussle for a place in the top six in the Premier League. But an injury and lack of options on the bench are what's likely to hold the club back as things stand.

Crystal Palace have a strong team and an excellent coach, so this is not the time for chairman Steve Parish to be content, he needs to get the cheque book out and help take this club to the next level.

Key Player: Adam Wharton

There are a few candidates for this label amongst the Palace squad but it is generally in midfield where games are won. Wharton is one of the brightest young talents this country has to offer and there is no doubt that he will be a fixture in the England national team in the years to come.

He oozes composure on the ball and he is absolutely tenacious without it. Wharton reads the game brilliantly and possesses all the qualities to make a great all-round midfielder.

His talent was further showcased at the weekend with his assist for Sarr at Wembley - he's a fantastic player.

I think he is only going to get better working with Glasner and the added experiences in Europe should also help take his game up a level or two.

Prediction: 13th

It may not be what Palace fans want or expect to see but a solid mid-table campaign might be in store for them again. I have no doubt that they will be comfortable in the top flight but the added fixtures the Conference League provides will certainly have an impact on the squad, both physically and mentally.

As I mentioned above, I really think Palace's first XI has the potential to fight for a top-six spot in the league but the lack of quality from the bench will hinder them from making that a reality.

Glasner is openly critical at the lack of transfer business going on at Selhurst Park this summer, and if Parish has any sense, he will give the manager what he wants after what he has just delivered this club in the space of three months.

A strong end to the transfer window may change my perspective on the Eagles, but they are currently behind many of their rivals when it comes to adding to their ranks this summer.
