Coventry vs QPR Prediction: The extra rest should help the Rs

It was just last week that Coventry City were unbeaten at home under Frank Lampard but they have since lost games to Leeds United and Ipswich Town in the Championship and FA Cup respectively. The Sky Blues return to league action on Tuesday (19:45, Sky Sports+) as they welcome Queens Park Rangers to the CBS Arena.
The visitors have had a week to prepare for this contest following their home victory over Blackburn Rovers. The Rs have been hot and cold on their travels, though. Below you will find my Coventry vs QPR predictions, featuring the latest match odds and team news.
Coventry have won four of their last six home matches in the Championship and they are 9/10 to come out on top on Tuesday.
Three of QPR's previous seven away trips in the second tier have ended in a stalemate. The draw is marketed at 12/5, which has an implied probability of 29.4%. The Rs are 16/5 (23.8%) to come away with the three points and they have won two of their past three away contests in the league.
Four of the last six Championship meetings between these sides have produced goals at both ends, and BTTS is on offer at 10/11 this time around.
Team News
Coventry are still coping without midfielder Ben Sheaf due to a muscle injury, but he is expected back later this month. Lampard has plenty of other options, though, in Jamie Allen, Jack Rudoni, Victor Torp and January addition Matt Grimes.
Haji Wright (knock) and Ephron Mason-Clark (hamstring) are still nursing issues of their own, so Brandon Thomas-Asante and Ellis Simms will continue to lead the line for the Sky Blues.
Oliver Dovin will operate in between the sticks and is likely to be shielded by a back three of Liam Kitching, Bobby Thomas and Joel Latibeaudiere. Width should come from Jake Bidwell and Milan van Ewijk as the wing-backs.
QPR are without former Coventry loanee Jake Clarke-Salter due to a hip issue, and the defender is not scheduled to return until the middle of March. Boss Marti Cifuentes deployed Ronnie Edwards and Steve Cook together in the heart of the back line against Blackburn, so this partnership looks set to continue in the West Midlands.
The Rs are also missing Karamoko Dembele, Lucas Andersen and Zan Celar due to injury, so Paul Smyth, Michael Frey and Koki Saito are in line to feature as an attacking trident in CV6.
Draw or QPR @ 9/10
Coventry have been improving under Lampard but two home defeats on the spin might leave them feeling a little deflated coming into Tuesday. Several first-team regulars played against Ipswich on Saturday and they were comfortably beaten 4-1.
We may see some tired legs from the Sky Blues as some who started against the Tractor Boys are likely to remain in the team to face QPR.
The visitors come into this game off the back of a week-long rest since they had no fixture at the weekend.
Cifuentes' men should have much fresher legs than their hosts, and this could have a huge impact on proceedings. The Hoops were able to bounce back from two-straight defeats in the Championship by beating Blackburn last time out, which will have restored some confidence to the players.
They will sense an opportunity in Coventry, but despite winning two of their last three away contests in the second tier, QPR remain unpredictable on their travels. Coventry will feel that they cannot afford to lose three home games in a row, either, so they will be fired up to deliver an immediate response on Tuesday.
With that in mind, I think backing draw or QPR is a sensible play at the CBS.

Both teams to score @ 10/11
Having touched on this earlier, I think goals could be in store on Tuesday. Four of the past six league meetings between these two clubs have produced goals at both ends.
Three of QPR's last four outings in the Championship has featured BTTS, including two away contests. This has also been a winning selection in two of Coventry's three previous home appearances in all competitions.
Coventry attackers Thomas-Asante and Simms have scored five goals between them in the last five fixtures in the second tier, while QPR boast a goal threat in forward Frey and Ilias Chair. Therefore, I think we will see the net bulge at both ends when these two sides collide.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
