Tuesday's EFL fixture list includes a vital contest in the League One relegation battle as Cheltenham Town host Charlton Athletic at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium (19:45).

The home side have shaken off a disastrous start to the season and climbed to 21st in the standings under new manager Darrell Clarke, while 18th-placed Charlton have also responded well to a managerial change since Nathan James took over last month. While the outlook is now brighter for both teams, they would both love the three points that are on offer in this game.

Team News

Rob Street is a long-term absentee for Cheltenham due to a knee injury while Elliot Bonds is in contention for a start after losing his place against Burton.

Charlton centre-back Lloyd Jones is available again after a two-game ban but fellow defender Kayne Ramsay and forward Miles Leaburn are injured.

Match Odds

Cheltenham are favourites to win at home and priced at 7/5 to win the match with Charlton on offer at 7/4 and the draw available at 9/4.

Over 2.5 goals in the game is priced at 10/11 with under 2.5 at 4/5 and it's 4/6 that both teams score in the game with 11/10 for only one or neither team to find the net.

Charlton's May is favourite to score the first goal of the game at 5/1.

Charlton to win @ 7/4

Charlton have seriously underperformed this season to even be considered relegation candidates given the quality they have in their squad, but the Addicks are finally getting their act together under Nathan Jones.

The Londoners were a soft touch under former boss Michael Appleton and went on a baffling 18-game winless run that stretched from the start of December until their impressive 2-1 away win at Derby last Tuesday.

That success had been coming as the Addicks had drawn their previous three games, which were all against strong teams in Lincoln, Bolton and League One leaders Portsmouth.

They might have made it back-to-back wins on the road at Northampton on Saturday but a sloppy goal enabled the Cobblers to equalise with 10 minutes left in a 1-1 draw.

Even so, Charlton's recent level of play has been superior to that of Cheltenham, who failed to make the most of a home game against an out-of-form Burton team on Saturday and drew 0-0. That was the Robins' third game without a win and they cannot escape the bottom four on Tuesday even if they win this match.

With Cheltenham struggling for goals, Charlton to win 2-0 looks a promising correct-score option at 14/1.

Charlton to win at 7/4

#PickYourPunt: Charlton to win, Charlton to score first and Alfie May anytime goalscorer @ 5/1

In addition to Charlton picking up a value road win, we can target a decent Bet Builder payout by adding them to score the first goal of the game and Alfie May to be one of their goalscorers, a combination which pays 5/1.

Cheltenham have not scored in either of their last two games and while things are nowhere near as bad as when they began the season without scoring in any of their first seven games, it is an area of concern for Robins fans again.

That leaves the door open for Charlton to break the deadlock, which they managed for the first time since January at Northampton with a fourth-minute strike from Karoy Anderson.

Charlton's struggles have largely been defensive this season and May is the joint-top scorer in League One with 17 goals. He converted a penalty in the win at Derby and is a likely candidate to be on the mark again against his former club.
