Chelsea will look to strengthen their claim for a Champions League place next season as they host London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge (20:00, Sky Sports Main Event). Enzo Maresca is under pressure at Chelsea despite the fact that they currently sit in the top four, while Tottenham are down in 14th under Ange Postecoglou.

Below you can find my Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur predictions featuring team news and betting tips.

Team News

Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke are all back in training and should return to the side having missed the defeat to Arsenal before the international break. Meanwhile, Mykhaylo Mudryk is suspended and Omari Kellyman and Marc Guiu are both out with hamstring issues.

Jackson is likely to lead the line after Pedro Neto was ineffective at the Emirates, while Palmer should come in as the number 10. That leaves Neto to play on the right if Madueke doesn’t start, while Jadon Sancho could keep his place on the left wing.

Reece James should revert to his natural right-back role having played in midfield at Arsenal, with Wesley Fofana likely to partner Levi Colwill at centre-back. Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen will continue to battle it out in goal, with Maresca picking the Spaniard for the last three outings.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Stats

  • Chelsea have won the last three fixtures between these two
  • The reverse fixture ended Spurs 3-4 Chelsea
  • Moises Caicedo has picked up nine yellows this term

Spurs still have several injuries to contend with Radu Dragusin out for the season and Lucas Bergvall, Dejan Kulusevski and Kevin Danso facing late tests to assess their fitness before kick-off. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven should partner each other at the back while Djed Spence may have done enough in recent weeks to start ahead of Pedro Porro or Destiny Udogie at full-back.

Son Heung-min has only been a substitute in the last three games but he could come into the starting XI in place of Mathys Tel, while James Maddison and Wilson Odobert will also be hoping for starts at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Odds

Chelsea are priced at 4/6 to win this game having won eight of their 14 home matches this term. That gives them an implied win probability of 60%, while Spurs are available at 18/5 to secure all three points, and a draw can be backed at 18/5 if you fancy parity between this pair.

If you fancy a repeat of the 4-3 thriller earlier in the season, over 2.5 goals can be backed at 2/5 and over 3.5 goals is 1/1. BTTS is 4/9 and Palmer is the favourite to open the scoring at 4/1.

Chelsea to win and BTTS @ 6/4

Now I don’t think either of these teams are particularly enamoured with their respective managers right now, but Chelsea have proven themselves to be far superior to Spurs over the course of the season. They’ve also held some sort of hoodoo of their rivals in recent years, beating them time and time again.

We all remember the ‘Battle of Stamford Bridge’ when Chelsea stopped Tottenham winning the Premier League title in 2016, but more recently they beat Spurs 4-3 earlier in this campaign and also hammered them 4-1 in 2023 when Postecoglou saw his side reduced to nine men.

In fact, Chelsea have lost just one of their last 12 Premier League games against Spurs (W9 D2), winning the last three in a row by an aggregate score of 10-4. The Blues have also won more Premier League games (36) and scored more Premier League goals (120) against Tottenham than they have against any other opponent.

Meanwhile, no side has earned fewer points in Premier League London derbies this season than Tottenham, and they’ve lost five out of nine this term. I’m backing Chelsea to get the better of Spurs once again, with both teams getting on the scoresheet.

Bet Builder - Rodrigo Bentancur and Moises Caicedo to get booked @ 13/2

We know that things usually kick off between these two. Spurs had two men sent off in 2023, while in the open and exciting 4-3 earlier in the campaign, there were still five yellow cards. I think we will see a high number of cards yet again as these two battle it out, so I’m going to pick two combative midfielders to pick up yellows.

Rodrigo Bentancur is Tottenham’s most-booked player this term with seven yellows to his name, and impressively they have come across just 19 appearances and 16 starts. He should play in midfield again here and up against the likes of Palmer, is going to have to make a couple of fouls. Meanwhile, Moises Caicedo is a destructive midfielder and has got nine PL yellows this term from 29 starts. He is going to play the full 90 and is a top contender to get booked by Craig Pawson.
