West Brom vs Norwich Prediction: Makama the main man

Eric Ramsay was welcomed to the Championship in brutal fashion as he saw his side concede late to Middlesbrough on Friday night in a 3-2 defeat. He will be hoping for a better result as his side host a transformed Norwich City outfit (19:45, Sky Sports+).

Team News
Ramsay’s West Brom lined up in a 5-2-3 shape in his first match, but there could be a couple of personnel tweaks to the XI. Mikey Johnston started at right wing-back but looked uncomfortable before switching to left forward, where he could start here.
Jed Wallace scored and got an assist after coming on as a sub on the right, and he could start in place of Krystan Bielik, if Ramsay goes for a creative midfield duo of Isaac Price and Callum Styles. Alex Mowatt and Jayson Molumby are out injured, and Aune Heggebo is expected to lead the line again ahead of Josh Maja, with Daryl Dike another forward option off the bench.
Josh Sargent remains in Philippe Clement’s bad books after refusing to play, and he is currently training with the reserves. The gaffer will hope to name the same XI as the one that won at Wrexham, led by the in-form Jovon Makama.
West Brom vs Norwich Predicted Lineups
- West Brom - Griffiths; Campbell, Phillips, Mepham, Taylor, Iling-Junior; Styles, Price; Wallace, Johnston, Heggebo
- Norwich - Kovacevic; Fisher, McConville, Cordoba, Chrisene; Mattsson, McLean, Ben Slimane, Schwartau, Ahmed; Makama
West Brom are the favourites for this one, priced at 1/1 to take the three points, giving them an implied win probability of 50%. Norwich are 11/4 to find a victory, while a draw can be backed at 12/5.
Over 2.5 goals is 1/1, BTTS is 4/5 and Heggebo is the favourite to open the scoring at 4/1.
West Brom vs Norwich Stats
- BTTS has come in during five of the last six West Brom games
- Norwich have won four of their last six
- Makama has scored six in his last seven league games
Norwich to win and BTTS @ 11/2
I think West Brom are going to be a lot of fun to watch under Ramsay, if their second-half performance is anything to go by. However, they have made somewhat of a habit out of conceding late goals, as it’s happened in their last two Championship encounters.
Both teams have scored in five of their last six in all competitions, and despite playing five at the back, it doesn’t look as though they will play with the handbrake on. Norwich, meanwhile, are a team reborn under Clement, and they bagged a very impressive away win at Wrexham last time out.
Still in the relegation zone, Norwich have won four of their last six, including their last two away games by a scoreline of two goals to one. I think we could see something similar here, given there is no guarantee that WBA are going to improve under their new boss.

Jovon Makama to score anytime @ 23/10
The man who is quickly making Norwich fans forget about Josh Sargent. Makama has been in sensational form, scoring six in his last seven league games, as well as bagging a hat-trick against Walsall in the FA Cup.
I’m surprised to see this price on him to score anytime against a leaky West Brom defence, and will take full advantage by backing him to find the net at anytime once again.
