West Brom vs Coventry Prediction: Two cards catch the eye

West Brom manager Eric Ramsay’s future is reportedly already in doubt after a shocking start to his managerial reign. No wins from seven so far in the league and cup, and next up they host league leaders Coventry City at the Hawthorns (12:30 GMT, Sky Sports Main Event).
The Sky Blues got a major win over Middlesbrough on Monday night to return to the summit of the second tier, but Frank Lampard will be desperate to follow it up with another win here. Below you can find my West Brom vs Coventry predictions featuring team news and more.

Team News
Ramsay has switched to a back four in recent weeks and after back-to-back 0-0 draws in the league, we should see a fairly standard 4-4-2. Aune Heggebo and Isaac Price will lead the line, with Alex Mowatt and Jayson Molumby getting through the hard yards in midfield.
Max O’Leary did well in that draw with Birmingham and will keep his place in goal, behind Nat Phillips and Charlie Taylor. Alfie Gilchrist could come into the XI to start at right-back with Callum Styles set to feature at left-back.
Coventry had a lot of dilemmas ahead of the Middlesbrough game on Monday, but after such a good win, we can expect Lampard to name an unchanged XI. That means Joel Latibeaudiere and Bobby Thomas will play at centre-back, with Frank Onyeka set to partner Matt Grimes in midfield again.
Brandon Thomas-Asante is available again after his three-match suspension and should feature on the bench, with an appearance against his former club fairly likely. Liam Kitching, Milan van Ewijk and Jay Dasilva all signed new contracts this week, with the full-backs set to start this one.
West Brom vs Coventry Predicted Lineups
- West Brom - O’Leary; Gilchrist, Phillips, Taylor, Styles; Wallace, Molumby, Mowatt, Jimoh-Aloba; Price, Heggebo
- Coventry - Rushworth; Van Ewijk, Thomas, Latibeaudiere, Dasilva; Onyeka, Grimes; Sakamoto, Rudoni, Mason-Clark, Wright
West Brom are 5/2 to win this game, with Coventry the 11/10 favourites. That gives the Sky Blues an implied win probability of 48%, with a draw available at 12/5.
Wright is the favourite to score first at 4/1 and over 2.5 goals and BTTS are both 10/11.
West Brom vs Coventry Stats
- West Brom are winless in seven under Eric Ramsay
- Callum Styles is West Brom's most-booked player this term
Coventry to win @ 11/10
I will back the away side here, as the Sky Blues bagged a vital home win last time out to end a poor run of performances. It felt like quite a seismic win for Coventry in their season - and now they are top of the league again with just 14 games to go.
It does feel like a line was drawn on Monday night and Lampard will be desperate for his team to bag another three points - after a concerning run of eight away games without a win over the winter. I’m looking forward with positivity from a Coventry POV, and think they could take advantage of a nervy West Brom outfit. If the hosts concede first, it could be a long afternoon.

Bet Builder - Frank Onyeka and Callum Styles to get booked @ 6/1
I think we could see a bitty affair at the Hawthorns and I think there’s two players who are the most likely to get booked - one from either side. Brentford loanee Onyeka made a big impact for Coventry on Monday night, and is the midfield enforcer they have been crying out for. He was booked within half an hour at the CBS Arena on Monday night, and I’d suggest he is going to have to make a few fouls on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Styles is set to feature at left-back and he will be up against tricky winger Tatsuhiro Sakamoto. The Japanese wide man has drawn 1.78 fouls per 90 so far this term and given Styles has got eight yellows, more than any other West Brom player - I think he is a likely candidate for a card.
