Swansea vs Sheffield Wednesday Prediction: 5/1 pick for toothless trend to continue for Owls

Matos may call upon new loan signing Leo Walta after the Finn was added to the squad before Monday’s transfer deadline. The midfielder arrives from Swedish club Sirius.

Gustavo Nunes could be in line for a start having come off the bench twice since joining on loan from Premier Leaue Brentford. Incidentally, Nunes’ last appearance for the Bees before his switch came against Wednesday in the FA Cup last month.

Wednesday ought to have new signings Marvelous Nakamba and Joel Ndala available, while Crystal Palace loanee Tayo Adaramola will be assessed following a full week’s training with the Owls.

Boss Henrik Pedersen still has a lengthy injury list which includes Pierce Charles, Max Lowe, Sean Fusire, Di’Shon Bernard, Dominic Iorfa, Nathaniel Chalobah, Gui Siqueira, Ernie Weaver and George Brown.

Given that Wednesday have won since September, gained a point since December, or even scored a goal in their last 840 minutes of action, it’s understandable that they’re a 10/1 shot to win here.

The Swans are 3/10 for the win, at an implied probability of 76.9%, while the draw is priced at 4/1.

Swansea are 5/6 to win to nil, and it’s 13/8 for them to get the better of the basement-dwellers in both halves.

This whole season has been a living nightmare for Sheffield Wednesday fans. Take it from someone who knows.

Having gone from “Can we win soon?” to “Can we get another point soon?” to “Will we ever score again?” is not exactly the rollercoaster ride of a normal Championship campaign.
