Preston vs Swansea Prediction: Lilywhites spurred on from FA Cup triumph

Preston North End demolished their Lancashire rivals Burnley 3-0 to book their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, but they must turn their attention back to the Championship. The Lilywhites welcome Swansea City to Deepdale on Tuesday (19:45, Sky Sports+), with the hosts hoping to end a three-game winless run.
The Swans head here off the back of a 3-0 home victory over Blackburn Rovers on February 22, but they have lost five of their last six away matches in the second tier. Check out my Preston vs Swansea predictions below, where you will also find the latest team news and match odds.
Preston vs Swansea Betting Tips
Odds correct at the time of publishing
Preston haven't tasted defeat at home in the league since November 2 and have won three of their 10 league matches at Deepdale since. They are 7/5 to win this fixture.
The other six have been stalemates and the draw is marketed at 11/5, which has an implied probability of 31.3%.
With just one win in their previous six away trips in the Championship, there is no value to be had in backing Swansea to triumph at 21/10.
Four of Preston's past five league fixtures on home turf have featured both teams to score, which is priced at 1/1 for Tuesday.
Team News
Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom has two injury concerns in the middle of the park as Ben Whiteman and Duane Holmes are ruled out for this clash, and the former is not due back until later this month. This could leave Ali McCann, Stefan Teitur Thordarson and Ryan Ledson to occupy the midfield.
Defenders Jack Whatmough and Jordan Storey are also in the medical bay, so Andrew Hughes, Lewis Gibson and Watford loanee Ryan Porteous will make up the back three for the Lilywhites.
At the top end of the pitch, Mads Frokjaer-Jensen is a doubt to feature, which leaves Sam Greenwood and Milutin Osmajic as the best options to partner up front. Osmajic is still under investigation for alleged racism towards Burnley's Hannibal Mejbri, however.
Swansea head to Preston without ageing midfielder Joe Allen due to injury, while Kristian Pedersen is also in the treatment room.
With over a week off since their victory over Blackburn, caretaker boss Alan Sheehan will have had plenty of time to work with the players, but he could opt for a similar XI that faced Rovers.
This would see Lewis O'Brien and Goncalo Franco stationed in the engine room, while Ben Cabango and Harry Darling will man the heart of the defence, shielding goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux.
The attacking trio is expected to include Liam Cullen, Ronald and Myles Peart-Harris, while Zan Vipotnik is likely to lead the line for the Swans.
Preston to win @ 7/5
After defeating Burnley convincingly to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, Preston will have gained a lot of confidence which they should carry into their meeting with Swansea.
There's also the fact that they have gone four months without a defeat at Deepdale in the Championship. Swansea may have given themselves a lift by beating Blackburn but it doesn't hide the fact that they have been very disappointing on their travels.
The visitors have lost five of their previous six away fixtures in the second tier, and they are coming up against a team who have made their home a fortress in recent months.
Preston will also be spurred on by the fact that they fired three goals past Burnley, who have been excellent defensively throughout this campaign. Swansea are showing some fight which could lead to an interesting battle, but Preston should have enough to rack up another win on home soil.

Over 2.5 goals @ 5/4
Over 2.5 is another market that offers good value for this clash because it has landed in four of Preston's last seven outings in the Championship, as well as their latest appearance in the FA Cup against Burnley.
For Swansea, there have been at least three goals scored in their two latest fixtures in the second tier, while seven of their past nine away contests have produced over 2.5 goals.
Sheehan has given the Swans some confidence since taking over on an interim basis, and they can cause Preston some attacking problems. However, the hosts have been given a lift of their own following their cup heroics and they will fancy themselves to score a couple of goals against a side who do not travel well.
